4 MVC games Tuesday, Nov. 19

Evansville loses at Ohio State. Final score- Ohio State 80 Evansville 30 - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401715407

Ohio State was favored by 24.5 points, so nobody expected UE to win. But losing by 50 points and only managing to score 30 points is a bit embarrassing. Evansville drops to 1-4.
Ohio State was picked 8th in the Big Ten Preseason Media Poll .
Evansville shot 19.0% overall (11-58 ) and 11.1% from three (3-27), and they were outrebounded 48-28.

The other 3 MVC games are still in progress - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/scoreboard/_/seasontype/2/group/18

Missouri State is in a close game with UT-Arlington in the 2nd half - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/boxscore/_/gameId/401725799
Former Illinois State guard Darius Burford has 10 points for UTA off the bench. He was ISU's leading scorer the last 2 seasons.
And UTA guard Brody Robinson started and has 3 points. He was offered by Bradley out of Garden City junior college.

Belmont drew only 1,273
Missouri State drew 2,178
attendance at a few Valley schools has been pretty poor

but here’s a real stumper -
Loyola has had several years of success & strong teams, they have an enrollment of over 17,000, they have over 100,000 of their own alumni living right there within a few miles, they get decent local coverage and games are on Chicago’s Marquis Network, they sit in the middle of a metropolitan area of 9 million people (20-30 times larger than Bradley has)
and on top of that weather was perfect & they are undefeated - & were playing one of the top midmajor opponents in the nation who were also undefeated-

yet they only drew an announced 2,318 but likely there were only 1500 or so really there with all the empty seats. Have fans there given up now that they’ve left the MVC?
They went to the NCAA Tourney 3 the last five years they were in the Valley, but haven’t gone again since the jump to the A-10.

I by no means like Loyola or their fair weather fanbase, but this is a sad development. Midmajor basketball is getting pushed further and further towards national irrelevance, and if the good teams can't draw that isn't good for the future.

Loyola never drew many fans before and only did so after they joined the Valley and finally became relevant after several seasons in the Valley. Now that they left and have not been as good the fair weather fans have quit attending games. Sometimes bigger is not better. Bradley fans that keep talking about leaving the Valley need to pay attention to this because the Valley is the best fit for BU period.
