I'm not sure why anyone would be surprised with the way this team has played this year, we are basically a four man team, with none of the newcomers stepping in right away. (Not blaming anyone, it is hard for a freshman to contribute a lot his first year). This is a rebuilding year. The reason Les is gone is that he recruited a roster of mostly athletes, not shooters (With the exception of Dyricus and TB). Athletes are great but if they can't put the ball in the basket consistently the team is not going to win many games. It is going to be a long season but I think we will see improvement next year and the year after.
Happy with 13-16 from the free throw line. Big improvement over the Wisconsin and Nevada games.
Year three is when I expect to see W/L results, when most of the roster is GF's guys. I'll give him that much. Until then, I'd settle for some improvement from game to game. Can anyone tell me they're seeing much of that?

I agree. I can accept losing games, but not with this type of shooting. I thought our players could shoot in high school. Now they all of the sudden forgot how to do this in college, even adjusting for tougher competition? I don't get it. Plus I would rather lose games 66-60 than 65-49 any day! The more competitive we stay, at least we win some close games even if we lose some heartbreakers along the way. That would at least show people we are closer to turning the corner.

remember we're picked 10th - so nobody's expecting much...
but still -- good teams accomplish several things we are just not getting done..
-they can shoot -- and actually note that this team IS SHOOTING 50% inside the arc, but only about 20% beyond it
...so maybe we're talking a little bit of bad shot selection here...
-they handle the ball well and limit turnovers - yet we've consistently had more turnovers than our opponents, and last night we had 22 compared to their 12..many just bad TO's & unforced ones
-they distribute the ball and find the open guy - the lack of assists on this team is astounding - only THREE assists all night last night -
-and the bread and butter of every college basketball team is to get the ball in the paint and try to either get layups or make them foul you..
and we even see that it can work since Jordan Prosser had 14/8, was 6-8 from the floor and went to the line a couple times.
BUT -- we just don't seek to get the ball there enough - how many times does our point guard just launch a shot 5 seconds into the shot clock without making a single pass?
-Last couple thoughts...is there any way for a couple players to put some Stickum on their hands - a couple guys simply drop the ball out of bounds even when unguarded more than anyone since Xanthus Houston!
And how 'bout we simply STOP forcing up threes when we know we're not making them?? Gotta feed the low post...it's not like Wyoming had a couple of Shaq's and Kareem's there!!
I don't think any of these guys were shooters. Don't confuse the difference between being a shooter and a scorer.
Sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees. If not for the fallout from the coaching change we would be 6-1,imo or at worst 5-2. Everything this team lacks is in Champaogn.
I, for one, will stand by the current coaching staff and players.
That is exactly correct. I don't know how people thought this team was going to win a lot of games. The overall skill is just not there.
This year was never about W's and L's to me. It's all about change, recruiting, building, etc.
I think we will some games, but it's not going to be easy.
And then next year we would be 12-20 again.
This change was not for one year.

We can't control or worry about players who gave up on Bradley!
