AJ Youngman

Youngman was at the UTA/Bradley game and mentioned that he is being actively recruited by Wichita as well.

I think Bradley could have a real good chance at him. A lot of bigger schools are recruiting him, and he is a great shooter, but he is not the most athletic kid, and that might limit the solid offers.

This kid is a sophomore in high school. He might be the best player in the area right now with the biggest upside. How can you say his athletic ability might keep some big schools away? I will tell you right now he will end up with more offers than any other kid in the area in the last 10 years. Great shooter and high Bball IQ! We could use that at BU right now and we will never get a chance at this kid..

Because FWIH, that is already what he is being told by "representatives" of some of the big boys, that he's not athletic enough for them right now. I am not sure I'd agree that he is "the best player in the area" now. He is a very good shooter, and he's big for his age. Let's see how he does against good competition. I hope he continues to develop, but he is not very athletic right now. I think he will end up at a mid-major, or if not, he'll wish that he did like Nate Taphorn.

BTW, A.J Youngman was at the Bradley game last night. Too bad he had to see the team and the crowd at its worst.

Saw a game live and followed box scores closely. It seems Illinois competition is much different then Kentucky! Still very early in the season, but did not impress in game I saw.

He had 24 points and led all scorer's in Morton's win last Friday over Danville...
but on Thursday night in a loss to Cahokia, AJ had a double double - 12 pts/12 rebounds...
Those are decent numbers for a sophomore on a mediocre team without a lot of help...I hope Bradley stays on him - I think he has the potential to be another Jeremy Crouch or Alec Peters...

Against Mahomet-Seymour 6-17FG (3-10 from 3) ... 17pts 4rebs

Against Cahokia 2-17FG (2-10 from 3).... 12pts 12rebs

Against Danville 9-16FG (3-9 from 3) .... 26pts 6rebs

Against Champaign Centennial 3-10FG (2-6 from 3) 8pts 4rebs

10/35 from 3 for the tourney 28.5% ... Like I said its early, lot could change but I thought he was known as a great shooter!

Crouch comparison is realistic, however Youngman will have to focus on mobility & athleticism to make Crouch!

Peters comparison not realistic at this point, 1) Peters is 6'9 2)leading the country in offensive efficiency 3)Fun Fact: multiple NBA scouts already inquiring about Peters
Through 8 games Peters is shooting 59.8% FG (55-92), 55% from 3 (22-40), and 84.6% FT (22-26): Averaging 19.3ppg while playing 26.5mpg

..just wondering if AJ Youngman who has a fairly accomplished coach as his father - how do those dynamics affect the game...and is Jim Youngman involved with coaching at Morton HS

Hearing reports that AJ has quit the team at Morton and will be looking to go the prep school route. Disagreements between the coaching staff and AJ's dad are believed to be behind that decision.

So he is just starting his sophomore season, and he will be looking for his 3rd high school?

interesting - check last page on this thread & there was some turmoil with a couple players quitting his team last year
- but I had heard someone 2-3 months ago predict this exact scenario if it is true...

Maybe dad got a new job out of town because anyone that moves around the country based on their HS Soph child's sports career has their priorities wrong IMO
