Alabama's 2nd leading scorer arrested on felony drug charges

Alabama is a 4-seed in the NCAA Tourney and they play Hofstra on Friday in Tampa.
It'll be interesting to see if their coach, Nate Oats allows Aden Holloway to play....
(he averages 17 ppg and is their best 3-point shooter at 44%)

..after all....if you recall, he had an NBA guy on the team that NCAA had RULED INELIGIBLE, and yet Oats played the guy
several games until the court ordered him ineligible and upheld the NCAA's ruling!

Well if it's the same head coach, nothing will happen. Recall just 3 yrs ago when 'Bama's star player Brandon Miller (the #1 Freshman that season) was involved in a murder (brought the murder weapon and sealed his car so the victim couldn't escape) and acc'd to the coach, he was just "in the wrong place at the wrong time." And yet Eli Childs was suspended for the last 8 games of the 2021 season in what ended up being allegations, and I'm not even sure if he was charged with anything in the end. (??) It was a sad ending to a great BU career, which included b2b Arch Madness titles (tourney MVP in 2019), All-Freshman team and MVC 2nd Team for 2 seasons for Eli.

The 'Bama head coach chose winning as more important than anything else.

NIL contract terms are going to need to get tighter in the future to account for these types of situations. If I were an Alabama supporter, I wouldn't want NIL money going to players like Holloway. And I just don't understand it - Holloway is likely making hundreds of thousands this year, and yet he needs to sell weed? If he in fact had a pound of marijuana, then he was looking to sell it.

I would be shocked if Oats doesn't play Holloway. He will rely on the "we need to let the legal process play out" cop out, where the legal process won't be wrapped up for months.

More news on Aden Holloway... the school admin has dismissed him from the campus and he will not be with the team, overruling
the basketball coach's plans to play him in their NCAA Tournament games. Now watch the kid get a court injunction - inevitable...

It upsets me when a college coach has no moral ethics and will try to play players no matter what crime they may be involved in! They should fire the Alabama coach for his lack of integrity and a winning at all cost mentality!!!!

Let's be real. Our country and society is in great moral and ethical decline. Drug charges are almost meaningless today, with the legalization of such street drugs across many many states in this country. People do not have the qualms with it they used to because they have been desensitized to the moral degradation around them. We continue to legalize vice after vice, with gambling now becoming a huge situation.

I agree with all the sentiment above. But this situation is just a canary in the coal mine for where our nation is today, thanks to much unfaithfulness.

Good post Stryker - puts things in perspective

not by choice, as Oats wanted to "let the systen play out" and keep him on the team,
but the school administration overruled and removed him from campus.
"...the school took its proper immediate interim measures by suspending him from the team
and removing him from campus pending the investigation"

However, Holloway has an attorney who is demanding a hearing and is working to get his client re-instated...
