The President runs the show. She will get someone she wants. BU would be silly to not look outside of the "family" for a new AD. There aren't qualified people in house.
With a new president everyone is on notice that life as they knew it is now different. No one saw/felt this more than Ken Kavanagh. What he did before Glasser arrived was irrelevant.
Now, all the current coaches/staff need to be on notice as well. When a new AD is hired things start fresh. That's the way it works. The president who hired Jim Les is now gone as is the AD he worked for. Again, everyone should realize this.
For better or worse every new hire like AD/President seem to think the world starts with them. The clock starts the minute they arrive, not the years before they arrived. Thats how it is. Joanne Glasser wanted things done her way regardless of the successes/failures of the staff prior to her arrival. Ken Kavanagh did the exact same thing when he got there.
I expect the new AD to do the same thing. If they are running the show they are going to want people they can count on working for them.
I agree with most of this as well. The new prez is getting involved in many different ways. Like Da Coach says, maybe it is her style.
But, if it is her style to redo everything then who gets the credit for the wins and losses? Who gets the raise or contract extension? Who gets the blame or fired for the failures?
The same questions apply toward donations, enrollment numbers, faculty hires, retention rates, graduation rates, and placement figures. If she wants to get involved and make all these changes then she should get the credit or blame.
