And the jekyll and hyde season continues....

It has all been said in this thread or earlier posts I'm not going to get worked up, I'm not going to get worked up, I'm not going to get worked up,I'm not going to get worked up,I'm not going to get worked up,I'm not going to get worked up,I'm not going to get worked up,I'm not going to get worked up,I'm not going to get worked up! OK I feel better.

OK who lost money! I'm glad I did not wager a dime. I never ever put money down on teams that I have a huge emotional attachment on.

I'm glad I avoided the chat room tonight (nothing against any of our fine participants of course! :) ). I just had some errands to take care of tonight and I had a bad feeling about the game anyway.

What can you say, this team is what it is. Most "middling" teams, as ESPN called us yesterday, have seasons like this where they can take out a top 25 team one day and lose to an awful team the next, though Indiana St. is a fairly decent team, just not in the same league as UNI. These types of teams aren't terrible, can be very dangerous at times, but are just not consistent and/or deep enough to win consistently. That's what we have this year, and hopefully we mature into something special next year. But they are going to have to show me something more before the end of this season in order for me to really have confidence that they really can be something special next season.

I refuse to believe that our team is not good. We are better than ISU blue and are capable of beating any team...if we can just remember how to play good?

ok anyways...my thoughts:

- THAT PLACE IS HOTTTTTTTTT. I was sweating when I got to my seats. It also generates plenty of noise. I can't imagine that place packed.

- People commented on strict ushers....listen to this. We ask for cheap upper bowl seats (still 12 bucks) and for center court....we walk up into the yellow seats and sit down...there is hardly anyone around us. The usher sees us, flags us down, and demands us to come down and show him our tickets....there were 7500 empty seats and he thinks we would choose upper bowl??? there were seats open right behind the BU bench with the group.... although he was very nice, shook my hand, and talked shit about my bears sweatshirt and i said booo colts..

-All the fans around us were very nice....we did have this guy behind us who could not talk more..."that's good, dammit" "that's good, see told you he would make it" EVERY SHOT.

-I don' think we stopped then ONCE in OT....ok maybe once...but I don't remember...14 points in 5 minutes!!!!

-SM really started to turn it on....and AW made like one shot somewhere in there...:|...but they would simply hit shot after shot.

-Terrible passing....they banged inside with success and every garbage take to the basket fell in...

-I don't know how often Crawford shoots threes...but that was at the worst time. I looked it up he only had 10 attempts on the year...and it had to happen

-DSE took everything upon himself for most of the game. I didn't think a freshman could do that.

-We didn't have enough time to go to the beef house...it was closed after the game! :(

-The team bus trailed us or vice versa all the way from champaign...felt so special...

But is does seem oddly difficult to win at Indiana State -
note that not just BU, but eight other teams have lost there including Illinois State, Drake, & SIU...

I think we focused too much on defending Rashad Reed and Jordan Printy, & tho we did a great job on them (Reed 0-8 from the arc, Printy 1-6) we didn't focus enough on Carter.

Anyone know why they went with Crawford?? In Peoria it was Leitnaker who started and plaed way more than Crawford, but last night Crawford started and Leitnaker got only 2 minutes? Neither was very effective, so that's where we should have gotten more shots, but we didn't.

nice to get the game to OT, but it takes 2 halves to win and the 1st half was terrible!

We had 5 guys who wanted to be LeBron in the 1st half - where was the ball movement? What happened to WE? Horrible game for him.

2nd half was fun to watch - better shot selection and hounding D until the 3:00 mark of the game 'til the end.

This years team is a freaking broken record. We play hard and well for the first what 7 minutes of the first half 13-6 then they go on a huge 20-2 run, we stop running our offense we take ill advised jump shots, miss lay ups, stop and I mean stop guarding anyone whether it is on the perimeter or in the lane.

Then we play hard in the second half, much better movement both on offense and defense but we again stop guarding their shooters, why again when a player penitrates we have to sag from the wing leaving a shooter wide open, its a continual theme we refuse to guard a 3pt shooter. How many freaking 3s do we have to give up before we stop sagging off and trying to stop the dribble from the key??? If Pounty could get into the lane and score one on one Ill live with that but for the love of god stop leaving Carter or who ever wide freaking open. Or just stop play man to man entirely and play a zone.

All year long the same thing. We have made the Aarron Carters of the world all everything.

How many teams this year have had one of or their best overall shooting nights against us?

But when you go for most of the 1st half with 2 or 3 overall baskets its impossible to win.

You said everything I would say but I'll add one more. Our bigs do not have the ability to man up in the paint by themselves. If they could then we would not have to play so much helter skelter help D. Most teams do play help side D but they can man up straight up during crucial times and not help out. We were just not getting beat from the outside yesterday but the other team was getting to the paint way to deep, way to easily which gave the ISU way to much time to square up and shoot because the defender was way to deep in the paint helping out. A true big helps that problem.

Actually they didnt have any issues getting the ball into the lane all night long whether it was on a pass or with the dribble. But you are right we dont have that presence in the lane that will make a dribbler think twice. There is no resistance either by the orginal defender or once by him with a big defending the lane from the dribbler.

But please stop trying to eliminate the dribbler with a guy flashing from the wing. If thats the case again stop the man to man and play a zone, but even in a zone our wings get lost constantly on ball rotation.

I understand the idea with a wing helping is to stop the penitration but also to get into a passing lane and cause passing issues. But again Id live with a dribbler getting into the lane and scoring rather then us giving up a constant open 3pt shot. Warren leaving Carter open was inexcusable. But we left several of there players open for uncontested 3pt shots.

We really have a way of turning crud into gold Carter, Richard and Crawford.

But one last thing it did not help us last night to get them into the 1-1 with over 10 minutes remaining in the second half. I guess the 10 more free throws shot and the 8 more made didnt help us out to much.
