Another former BU coaching candidate in trouble

Ray Giacoletti was one of the 10 coaching candidates interviewed for the Bradley job in Atlanta in 2002. He was not invited back to Peoria for a second interview. 2 years later, he took the head coaching job at Utah. Now after just 3 years, there is a strong effort by boosters to fire him.

From the article below--
Web sites such as firegiacoletti.com and giacolettimustgo.com have been up and running for months.
A recent poll on KUTV showed 75 percent in favor of firing Giacoletti after the season.
On the Utefans.net message board, the number would probably be closer to 98 percent as diehard Ute fans have been on Giacoletti's case ever since the shocking season-opening loss to Southern Utah.
An informal poll by the Deseret Morning News at Saturday's New Mexico game found similar numbers against keeping Giacoletti next year.
Of the dozen fans interviewed, only two said Giacoletti deserves at least another year, while one was undecided. The others were adamant in their feeling that a change should be made before next season.........

The average paid attendance this year is 9,557, down almost 1,000 from last year. It's down almost 5,000 from the peak of 14,281 in 1995-96 and is the lowest since 1975-76, Jerry Pimm's second year. And the actual bodies in the stands are perhaps half the paid number, which means the school is losing money on things like concessions and parking besides fewer ticket sales.

Nothing against him but I did not want him at B.U. as a coach because he plays a slow down low scoring type of offense.

As posted here a couple days ago, Giacoletti was getting pressure from boosters at Utah after just 3 mediocre seasons. Today he resigned in an agreement where he will be paid off to terminate his contract.

As noted above, he was one of the original 10 coaches named as candidates for the Bradley job back in 2002.

Can anyone help me remember the others? Here are the ones I recall--
1) Jim Les
2) Wayne McClain (still assistant at U of Illinois)
3) Brian Gregory (was assistant at Michigan State, now head coach at Dayton)
4) James Jones (still at Yale)
5) Ray Giacoletti (moved from Eastern Washington to Utah, resigned today.
6) Steve Merfeld (now at Evansville)
7) Jimmy Collins (coach of UIC)
8 ) Fran McCaffery (was the coach of UNC-Greensboro, now at Siena)

That leaves 2 more names I can't recall. Anyone else remember them? Rob Judson was not one of those names. He was not interested in the job at Bradley because he had taken the NIU job the year before.
