are we gonna sign MO or not?

Sorry to imply you are in "the club", but that is not what I am saying. But the "lucky 6-weeks" phrase is like a mantra to those who do disdain JL. It's their way of completely neutralizing one of the the greatest accomplishments by any Bradley coach in over 50 years. I am certainly not satisfied with the results these last 4 years, and I know Jim Les isn't. But if someone could convince me we would be better off with another coach, I'd jump on the bandwagon. I still think Jim is the best coach to lead this team. And though he won't use excuses, there have been the injury issues that have kept teams these last 4 seasons from excelling. I can't bring myself to blame Jim Les for all of those, like some people do.

That's fair. I certainly will not blame him for everything, that would be foolish and unfair. Unfortunately he's the face of the program, and he will get too much credit when we win, and too much of the blame when we lose. It's his program, and ultimately he's accountable for its successes and failures. I think with some of the recent additions (hopefully a couple more good ones coming shortly), we'll tidy up some stuff and get back to where we were in '06 and '07.

Now back on topic - Michael Ocherobia. It sounds like he's a guy that could help us in an area where we've been a bit deficient over the past few years. It sounds like we've put a lot of time and effort into landing him. It would be disappointing and I think a setback to not land him. Here's to hoping he's cleared, and is in a BU uniform next season.

YOU grew up in the burg, was a big time BB fan and new nothing about BU and BU BB:? Didn't coach Mike Miller's Galesburg team come to P town and get second in the state at the CC with Bradley written on the floor! You never while going to school at GHS hear about GHS and Bradley great Dave Lunstrom and while YOU were in school there never heard of one of the all time leading scorer's there that came to BU named Eric Johnson:? And your Dad while taking you to all those I of U, IU and Purdue games, along with all those other great BB fans in Galesbury, never mentioned BU and ALL the great DV BU teams and BU teams before that:? You must of been in the corn fields day and night and girl watching while a lifeguard:lol: JK now:)
You see I am from the burg to and believe me it was Silver Streak, Bradley and Illinois BB:)

Born in Galesburg, grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana (and attended LOTS of INSU games). Sorry that wasn't clear.

BTW, if your from the 'Burg it wouldn't surprise me if you know/disdain (;)) a few of my family members (irish catholic = BIG family)... You can find them at Jake's during most normal business hours, haha.

We have some good guards; but they are young. The veteran guards are below average shooters and with no inside game next season will be another mediocre one.

Our good guards are young? Maniscalco, Warren, Dunson are below average shooters?

Looks like we'll be playing on Thursday next year. :(

It will be a huge setback if we don"t land him as we will once again be forced to play guys out of position.

Not to mention the time and money spent to recruit the kid. Pickings may have been slim for big men this spring, but we could spent our resources elsewhere, especially since we were recruiting shorthanded.

I don't think a potential 4-guard offense should or would stop a quality big from committing. In fact if you were a good 5-man surrounded by 4 quality guards, could help open up the inside and boost your scoring potential.

I think POB, should be a decent enough example of how playing center at BU under JL can make you rich...if you have some talent to begin with.
You must not be watching our games. We had M Sommerville to go along with POB. Our 4 guard offense HAS stopped good bigs from committing because as I posted earlier, a father of a Valley coach told me the other Valley teams use the fact that our bigs do not get involved in the offense. They just set screens 20' from the basket. Its no wonder we don't rebound any better. Its hard to rebound 20' from the basket.

Exactly right Wily! In this case perception does equal reality. The truth doesn't even matter.

I still feel we are one true big of being a team that will contend for the MVC title. It takes a big to be consistent at this level and consistency is what wins titles. It is comparable to having a good running game in football, come playoffs if you do not have that the good teams will stop your passing game every time, basketball good teams if they can key on one area they will win...

Would you consider the Colts and Saints to be good running teams? My Rams have a great RB and a decent running game and it got us all of 1 win last year, 2 the year before and 3 before that. Please, please, please let Bradford be a good QB in the NFL!

I'm just playing the other side here for fun. I would love BU to get a giant space eating rebounding machine or at least another potential 7 foot diamond in the rough like POB was.

Ok, on the clarification about Galesburg but growing up in Terre Haute and not knowing about BU:?
Anyway, here we go on knowing your family. First, I know about all the irish/Italian good catholic family's in the burg. I knew Papa Jake Glasnovich and all his boys. Drank a lot of beer in that place and bought a lot from the drive through window:D It was a great place when NO WOMEN were allowed in there. Great crackers and cheese:)
Any way besides the Glasnovich's other big catholic family's are the Kennedy's (Joe K. who owns the Rib Shack now, Great Food), the Mangieri's, the Welchs, the Shawgo's, the Holts, the Connors, the Wells and many more:!: All Good People:!: Did I hit a WINNER:lol:

Haha, no, the correct answer would be... McKillip... There may have been a clue in my screen name, but I do know some of the familys you named. If you follow (old school) GHS sports you might have known Dean...

My parents moved back my sophmore year at BU and we regularly buy cheese at Jakes still. And who could forget $1 Old Milwaukee on St. Patty's day!

In reality both The Colts an Saints had decent RBs and guys that could do some damage if you played the pass exclusively. Also just having a running game means the defense can put a ton of guys in the box just like in basketball if you have zero outside shooting the D can crowd the lane.

I watch all of our games for better or worse and yes POB had a lot of help. My point was that a couple of quality guards who can light it up from outside would pull the D away some from the inside. I will admit I'm not a gigantic fan of all the big man screens 25 feet from the basket. You do see a lot of successful teams incorporate this same screening, however to give more fuel, they usually have another big close to the basket as well...

Exactly, let's get 5 guards who don't even have to cross half-court to make a shot!
