Article on the Athletics Department Men's Basketball budgets of 200 Division I schools

Kind of crazy that Indiana spends over $10M more than the 2nd highest school and hasn't made a sweet 16 in 10 years, and haven't even made the tournament the past 3 years.

And those figures do not include money from boosters and booster groups and other groups like NIL collectives that help fund their athletic department with gifts and NIL money. Most, if not all, power conference schools have boosters and NIL groups that provide many millions of dollars per year.

Can't remember with Indiana specifically, but coach contracts, buyouts, etc are likely in those numbers if a program has them. Who knows, maybe they run some big expenses through it that aren't directly correlated with how other programs account for things.

IU did win the BCS Football Championship
And though it isn't included in the official Athletic Department funding, IU gets huge amounts of donations for NIL from a few of their wealthier supporters like Mark Cuban and others. It helped fund a national championship in football.
