AT Starting Next Year?

It's great when we can get a tall and skilled post player in here. We got POB, and it sounds like AT may be cut from a similar mold, and that's great. It can happen, but for the most part, elite post players who are very tall play at the most elite programs.

I'm with you on that Rick. I really like Theron Wilson, but think he's 2-3 not 3-4. I want two actual "bigs" on the floor all the time we can muster it.

Obviously some of you don"t listen to the Jim Les radio show as he said we will be a guard oriented team so if you are expecting to see 3 bigs start it is not going to happen, why do you think we have 3 new guard recruits for next season; the good news is our program has come a long way in that we were able to redshirt a player with the type of talent that Anthony Thompson has; it will be nice to watch him play for the next 4 seasons .
Projected positions for 2008-09 season:
Maniscalco- Dunson-McCain Point guards
Warren Cole-Scott Roberts Shooting guards
Wilson 3 guard small forward
Egolf Austin power forward
Thompson Singh Collins center
I think several of our players can play multiple positions and next season will be a good one if these players work hard this summer to improve their overall games.Defense should be the no.1 objective.

Now we are talking!!! Now we just have get JL out of that little guy sym. and we will start winning!! TW can shoot the 3!!

rick.....a 2 has to be able to dribble the ball in high traffic.....TW can not do this.....at best he is a 3! No predicting here just facts from watching all the games!

My main problem with the team this year was ball-handling........if another team pressed the Braves only DR-JC-AW or SM had the ability to handle it......no other player on the team has ball-handling skills......hopefully next year we will be adding some ball handlers with the new class!

A lot of people are making comments about getting more size on the court. I think it's just a year or two away. I think Les' goal is to recruit 4's that have size and shooting ability (Sommerville, Egolf) so we can stretch the floor. Then he wants to put a quality 5 in the middle to draw doubles and kick it out to shooters, or make teams pay for playing him 1-on-1. Both the 4 and the 5 need to be quick and agile so as to not slow down our uptempo offense.

On paper I think that Egolf and AT fit those goals really well...it's just a matter of development and how they actually perform.

I am with you on this rotation, this way will we always have two bigs on the floor and two big guards. And if everyone you mentioned plays we will have fresh legs left for the end of year push:) Hope we still get a chance for an end of year push this year, I think we will:)

Why do people keep refering to TW as a BIG. He is 6'5 and should play the 3. And this is why! He can shoot the 3, he can handle the ball, he can go to the basket, he can run the court and he could help two bigs rebound. He played out of position this year. (6'5 jumping center and playing power foward) Give me a break!!! We just got our ************ kicked on the boards this year!!!!!!!!!
Play the guy where he should and where he can help the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

People keep referring to Theron as a big because that's where he played this year. No one is going to disagree with you that he is an ideal three guard. This year we just didin't have the option of playing him there because of a soft and shallow front court. He will get his shot next year and should blow up as a fulltime 3.

By the way he can't actually handle the ball. He can get to the rack from 20 feet but that's much different than "handling the ball". I think that's the one major area of improvement for him in the summer as long as his free throw shooting at the end of the year holds up.

I was at Haussler this afternoon playing basketball with a bunch of people and on the court next to us, BU was practicing. So when I could I took a glance over to see what they were doing. I watched AT for a little while and I can tell you that I liked what I saw. He looked really smooth around the basket and was able to hold is ground well when they did a drill with someone pushing him from behind. I gotta say that seeing that today made me excited to watch him play.
