Austin's college choices

brocks

New member
If I remember correctly, Austin's juco coach said that, although RA came down to NMS and BU, he could have played at "just about any level" and had high majors recruiting him out of juco. RA came down to his final two because he thought he'd be able to use his size better in the MVC or WAC, and ultimately chose BU because that's where "his heart was."

Anyone know any more details about what high majors were after him (out of juco, not HS) but got rejected? I'm betting that if we knew that, we'd be surprised. A guy with his size and skill set, who actually makes it through juco and qualifies, must have made some BCS coaches salivate.

Go to the recruit section and open the Rashad Austin thread..............if you look there will be rival and scout sites will all the schools listed!

yeah, I've seen all those "bigs" on him out of HS . . . never saw the list on him in juco. His coach's comments that he could have played at any level but came down to BU/NMS suggested to me that there was a pretty long list pursuing him (AFTER high school, during his juco career) that backed off after he made it clear he was going WAC or MVC. Maybe we'll never know. OR maybe Dave Reynolds or someone from this board will ask him! Would love to know the full scoop.

I know he had a great NJCAA tournament and that big schools came calling late. T, followed him very close and can tell you more about his performance in the NJCAA that got the bigs calling........

This was posted here before...........SAT score, etc. played a role in the bigs backing off and RA going to Juco...............

More from high school..............

"CHS anticipates the return of many players next season. Two of the highest rated sophomores in California, Rashad Austin and Marcus Carter, will return. Sophomores Trilo Kidambi and Cameron Morrah, as well as freshman Mike Wells, are also expected to perform well next season."

Also found this on 17U..................."6-7 (maybe only 6-6) BF Rashad Austin is a bit of a mini Kenyon Martin and throws down lots of dunks and blocks lots of shots, he??™s getting some Pac-10 interest."

Also a 2005 Top 100 National Player...................
