As some of you know, I'm headed to Valparaiso for this fall semester, and I don't see that my TV gets FS Midwest or Comcast Sports Network. My grandpa normally buys me the Valley mini season package for Christmas, but I won't be home to use it this year, so I was wondering if any of you recommend putting that money into B. TV so that I can watch my Braves! Or should I just stick to the online radio stream? I hear they're supposed to be improving the stream (Bobby, any help?)

Thanks for the input DC. Most of the fans up there only don't like it if you're rooting for Butler, they're trying to establish some sort of rivalry with them, even though the conference has virtually no history, they don't really understand rooting for the "underdog" from what I've seen, which makes me love the MVC even more!

I have use B.TV. for the past 3 years. The quality of the video on B.TV is just horrible. I have complained to Bradley University as will as the Missouri Valley Conference about the quality several times over the past 3 years. I don't believe that the quality will improve this year either.
Unfortunately, I agree, if you're a college student I'd find it hard to justify the $50 investment until the video feed improves. I'd take the wait and see approach...
Yeah, it really doesn't bother me having to listen to them on the Radio, heck last year I had to listen to all the Bears games except for two on the radio because I was working. I like the radio announcers better anyway (for both, and even Notre Dame), they actually GET into the game and get excited hahaha Anyone know Dave's partner this year? I'd love to see coach Stowell make a comeback, but I know that's highly unlikely

I, for one, would much rather watch the game even if it's choppy than to listen. I get way too nervous if I can't see the action.
On that note, last year I ordered the month package and it WAS choppy, buffering literally half the time, which was really annoying. Fortunately, I missed most of the 11-pt. lead which disentigrated in just over 1 minute vs. the 'Birds.
But this year, my upstream speed is tripled, so I shouldn't have that problem with live streaming. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if your upstream speed is less than 1.0, you will have this buffering issue. I switched from DSL to cable internet.
The video quality was pretty nice IMO, and if there are expected improvements, I think $29.99 for the season package is worth it - comes out to less than $2 per game. Then again, I don't spend any money on other sports streaming, so I can afford to splurge...if this is even considered a splurge.
The video crew, however, needs to just give up trying to show a highlight after a noteworthy play. Every time, they show it about halfway through, and then switch back to live action, which makes the highlight totally worthless, and you've missed part of the live action too! I don't understand why they can't coordinate this better - WAIT FOR A BREAK IN THE ACTION!!!

I am sure that we will not be able to match what ESPN3.com, the Big Ten Network, and perhaps even the Horizon League offer, however, I can tell you that over the last 1-2 years, we have invested five figures in video streaming equipment, in addition to the six-figure costs for equipment that has gone into the video boards at Renaissance Coliseum and Carver Arena and we will be launching a new video portal, modeled after Oregon's, later next month.
In addition, the growing significance of video streaming and the opening of Renaissance Coliseum allowed us to hire a new staff position, Coordinator of Creative Production, and Julie Kindinger is a professional in video production. Her expertise also has allowed us to continue to improve our video products.
Video streaming is a priority for us and we are always working to improve the quality.

Hopefully the new COCP will undertand and be aware of the frustration many of us have had with the poor timing of highlights during the game. I'm pretty sure there are other aspects that fans that watch B.tv find disappointing aside from this.
I'd be happy with decent quality video, no blacking out, no missed action. Anything more is a bonus for me.

Glad to hear about the upgrades to BTV. Here's a thought - I just got a Roku, and it makes watching internet based video much easier. Any chance that the BU games could make it to an app on that device? Even better, how about an MVC channel on Roku? During basketball season, I don't think I would ever leave the house!
Sorry I'm taking a wait and see. The package last year if I'm correct was around $30 for the basketball season. Part the problem may not be what BU has put into their system but the internet feeds coming out of Carver. Someone needs to check on that and the SLA associated with that line. If they are using only a T1 then there could be some issues. I'd expect the feed from the Renaissance to be much better since most Universities carry a ton of capacity on their network and I would not be surprised that they use fiber.

I've tried B TV and found it unacceptable. The best way to watch the games would be to get a slingbox and hook it up to a relative's TV.
Also there are MANY places to live stream content. One is atdhenet.tv, but there are many, many others. I wouldn't recommend wasting your money with B TV. Every year they have promised improvement.

Not only was the quality unacceptable, I don't think anyone produces the show. I think they just plug it in and hope it works without checking it during the game to see if it's working, there were times with no audio during the video stream...almost like someone kicked out the cord with their foot and no one even bothers to check if it's working. And then no explanation, they don't care. The most obvious 'no producer' last season was during one of the simulcasts, they played radio commercials while showing the National Anthem being sung, you couldn't hear the Anthem only the radio commercials. THERE IS NO ONE PRODUCING THE STREAMING, THEY JUST PLUG IT IN AND HOPE IT WORKS WITHOUT CHECKING TO SEE IF IT WORKS.
I get quality video streams from almost every site I go to, so I know it's not my computer, they don't care about the video stream, the fans that don't go to the games, it's been painfully obvious.

I have purchased the stream every year since it has been available. It is not accurate to say there has been no improvement, but it certainly has not been what it should, and has been extremely frustrating on many occasions. Last year I routinely checked to see if I could find a stream elsewhere (channelsurfing or our opponent's website), because other sites were always better quality and more reliable. I'll buy it again this year, because it's the only way I'll get to see most of the games, but I really hope it is a better product this year.

I could find more, but I'm not trying to trash anyone, particularly Bobby who has always been very helpful with by questions regarding BU basketball and seems to really get what fans want, but MANY times we have been told and reassured streaming would get better, only to be let down.
Luckily, I moved back and have season tix now, so it's only the road games I care about...
