The Bears cut 19 players and placed 3 on injured reserve last pm to reach the 53-man roster limit. The two surprise cuts were quarterback Brett Basanez (unless a veteran is signed, the Bears will start the season with just 2 quarterbacks), and big receiver Brandon Rideau, who looked pretty good in the Bears last exhibition game against Cleveland. Recently signed cornerback Rod Hood also had his contract terminated.
