Ben Gordon signs with Pistons

Da Coach

Reports are that former teammates at UConn, and free-agents Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva have both agreed to terms and will sign with the Detroit Pistons. Now they just need to hire a coach.

Gordon signs for 5 years, $55 million dollars. That is less than the amount the Bulls reported offered last fall.

The Pistons will not pursue a couple of their own free agents Allen Iverson and Rasheed Wallace.

I'm actually not sad to see this happen...I thought Gordon (despite his offensive prowess) was a defensive liability and a bit of a ballhog. I think the Bulls can do better.

I agree O&B. It's not that he was a bad a player, it's that his offensive skills caused people (myself included sometimes) to overlook some of the negative things about him. I wish him well, but think this was better for the Bulls than overpaying for him.

It would have been nice if the Bulls would have gotten something for him! Letting one of your better players leave for nothing is never good. They should have traded him last year because there was no way that team the way it was made up was going to challenge the top teams. They are still a player or two from challenging. If they can manage to get Bosh in a trade then things can change quickly.

BTW...I wonder where the Pistons will play him or will the Pistons ship Rip.
