P'Allen's on campus right now so I feel pretty comfortable that he's not going anywhere. A quote from Kenny Lawson in a note to Kenton Walker on Kenton's MySpace site {yes, I am a recruiting wonk}:

Dunk, dunk, dunk... Personally, I am sick of dunks. What does a dunk count? TWO POINTS! Two points is also what a guy who makes two free throws gets. If guys would spend more time practicing free throws and less time practicing dunks, our teams would surely be better in the long run. :lol:

In general, I agree GTD. The lack of free throw shooting in basketball today is disgusting. But a big dunk is more than 2 points sometimes. My friend and I started calling some boogies dunks last season '6-pointers' because of what the did to the CA crowd, and that was worth as much as 4 points. And it continued this year with some of ZA's(what does coach corn put in that Yuba Gatorade down there?) dunks. When he slammed that ball down Carver would rock, and that can be a huge help to keep the momentum rolling or change it to your favor. Like I said ZA's free throw made me sick to my stomach, but some of those dunks he threw down were game changers.

Brewster 90, New Hampton 60 (December 17, 2006)
Brewster jumped out to a 13-0 run to start the game and never looked back en route to a 90-60 victory over rival New Hampton School. Brewster was led by Creighton-bound P'Allen Stinnett (Las Vegas, NV) with 32 points, including 7 three-pointers. Stinnett was 11-14 from the floor for the game (7-10 from three-point land). Iowa State-signee Craig Brackins (Palmdale, CA) added 14 points and 7 rebounds, while junior Emmanuel Negedu (Kaduna, Nigeria) and Texas-bound Dogus Balbay (Istanbul, Turkey) both added 10 points. Balbay handed out a game-high 9 assists. Brewster's defense forced New Hampton into 35 turnovers. Matt Hornbuckle (Westlake Village, CA) and junior Terrell McKenzie (New York, NY) played outstanding on the defensive end for the Bobcats. Brewster improves to 11-2 on the season and will be off until January 6th, when they host MCI.

There's no getting lucky making seven 3 pointers - you can shoot or you can't. Keep trying to diss CU kids, I'll keep showing you why you're wrong.

Amen, rusty. free throws are FREE! they should be made almost every time. dunks are exciting but free throws change games whether they're in the first or second half.

Missed a few meaningless FT's at the end of the championship game that made it a six point win instead of a 12 point win, that I agree. I'll even agree that I was annoyed by the misses.

I forgot... Bradley doesn't know anything about 3-point shooting.

Boy this seems to have become a discussion only with blue jay fans. In fairness to Creighton they have a very good recruiting class and I believe everyone here would be very excited if we had Stinnett or Walker. They appear to be very good players with a lot of potential.

I would not, however, trade our recruiting class for theirs. I think ours addresses our needs and when combined with the two leading returning scorers in the Valley makes us a very strong contender for the crown. I think ours is also larger/deeper than their class.

So, I guess my point is that I'm very excited by our potential and I believe we will compete well and ultimately win the Valley, but Creighton has earned respect with their strong recruiting class, outstanding record over the last 10 years, and their outstanding coach(and I think they have done it with quite a bit of class).

I look forward to Bradley replacing them at the top of the Valley, but they do deserve respect until we do so. Everyone can express their opinions but I wanted to do so as well.
