Better BB in P Town at the Y than Carver

I think Out of Bounce has a pretty good history of posting here and being pro-BU. I say let him slide on this one.... I really don't think he meant it as negatively as many here are viewing it. Am I right OB? Here's your chance to "clear the air" Out of Bounce.....

Well, I can agree with ya B4L. Plus, OoB has been saying for quite a while Bradley is gonna win the MVC... so if he believes that to be true, then why would he or anybody else care about the out-of-conference games.

Drake last year is a good example. Their best OOC win NOT COUNTING THE BRACKETBUSTER GAME AT BUTLER was at home over 130 Duquesne by 4 points. Their best OOC loss was by 6 at 36 St Mary's. Their other OOC games: W @ 178 UW-Milwaukee by 21, W at home vs 180 Iowa St by 35, W @ 192 Iowa by 5, win at home vs 213 Chicago St by 30, W at home by 28 over 278 UT-Pan American, and a W at home by 37 over 279 NCCU (that's NC Central).

Now I know they got the automatic bid by winning the MVCT, but everyone was saying they were in NO MATTER WHAT went on in St louis.

Really Bradley Brave?

Butler is a renewed series at the behest of both BU's respective coaches.
UIC was a series started by JL to get the game in Chicago last year.

SIUE, SEMO, and ETSU are buy games.

I fail to see which home games are out of BU's control.

As I said in another post, my biggest gripe with the schedule is the quality AND quantity of home games. Out of those two complaints, my bigger complaint would be the number (or lack thereof) of home games. After last year, I was hoping we could schedule down a bit, and up our number of home games. In that regard, TOTW falling through was out of BU's control. Had the TOTW gone through as planned, BU gets 2 more home games, and likely Stanford on a neutral court. As I have said, my biggest gripe right now is the lack of home games, and TOTW would have given us two more. IMO that's a lot better than a true road game at Cuse/Florida, a road game at FGCU, and neutrals against Richmond and UMKC.

I think the TOTW Classic was a single-elimination with 3 games in Alaska. . .no two home games included.

Once that fell through, the immediate attempt was to get into the Glenn Wilkes Classic, which we would've gotten one home game and refused to go to Marshall for the 2nd campus game.

The tourney falling through more than ended up being a good thing for BU.

I will certainly take the extra games. I would have rather played the Glenn Wilkes Classic because of the depth of the field, as I just don't like playing a school like FGCU on their home court.

Funny how nobody has taken me up on the offer.....they just want to whine.

I need to re-instate my signature "Stop Global Whining"

Was it a serious offer? If so, here's a serious offer for you: I'll sell you my tickets for $1500 a piece.

I'll take you up on your offer, but I suspect you won't stand behind your own words.

It needs no defense, it is what it is and, like I challenged....give me or sell me your home tickets if you think the games aren't worth watching.

(it's just a saying, as I know whining and BU-bashing never ceases, it was even rampant within days of BU making it to the Sweet Sixteen!!
no...it'll never end, it's just a saying.....)

Are people allowed to have an opinion without being classified as 'whiners' or 'haters'? Just wondering.

I wondered the same thing.
We're all giving our opinions of the schedule in this thread...I don't happen to think that it is a very good one, overall...I don't see how that should be classified as 'whining' or 'hating'.
I'll be at every home game...I'm not looking to sell my season tickets:roll: simply because I don't think the home non-con schedule is pretty lackluster...If that's 'whining', then I am pretty confused.

You guys are certainly making me chuckle on a lazy summer evening.

Having opinions is fine. If the opinion is always whining and complaining, then I'd call them a whiner and complainer.

And c'mon - we all know there is a BCS bias.

But hey - I'm not free of guilt. He who lives without sin casts the first stone. ;) I bee-yatch and moan like everybody else.

Exactly MM. Those who have an opinion that doesn't toe the company line are 'whiners' and 'complainers'. Unfortunately those casting the stones are casting them from glass houses. ;)

I complain and I also look for positives.... maybe try to keep negatives closer to my vest and not strut them for everyone else to tear me apart.

But if all I do is complain... then I am a complainer.

Just ask Mportsch or Bert Notorious... I like picking on the Illini, I like seeing their negatives and exploiting them.

I know Bradley has negatives. But I don't like dwelling on them and exploiting them. Why the h-e-double toothpick would I do that?

For the ones who think BU has a weak non-conference home schedule, find a press guide and check out the home schedules in the 70's. I sat through those games and did my share of complaining about weak schedules also. Our MVC record was probably below .500 in the 70's so I guess we should have been thankful for those games out of conference.

OoB's statement was sarcastic (IMO), trying to use humor to voice a displeasure with the non-con schedule. I don't think that this years schedule is as good as the last couple of years. BUT, I think this schedule could help a young team with a lot of new parts to get some early confidence and experience. That could pay off huge in the conference schedule.
I don't think when someone complains about something, that they are anti-BU.

Yeah ... people on this board -- many of whom are probably the hardest of the hardcore fans -- are going to sell their tickets because of this schedule. That's not the issue.

The problem with the schedule isn't for the people on here. It's about the casual fan that has to decide whether they want to drive downtown to watch the likes of UIC, ETSU, Butler, SEMO and SIUE. The marketing department has their work cut out for them this year.

Add: And Chico, the '70s was a long time ago. Division I basketball is a completely different beast these days.

IMO, I think T was offering to buy tickets (at face value) from disgruntled season-ticket-holder fans thinking this season's OOC games are not worth going to.

I think it is a nice gesture. IF one wants out, he'll buy 'em and put arses in the seats rooting for Bradley. No reason to "hate" on a guy for that - is there?

But the problem is how to get casual fans to the games for lack-luster opponents. That falls into marketing. And yes (first off, I am a hater of marketing, but their work is cut out for them this season), opponents is part of that. But this year it is lack-luster. So maybe we can expect more 1/2 time shows to be a draw. Maybe look for more package deals and discounts.

Why do we have to dwell on negatives?

It isn't about SIU-E. It is about Bradley and their team, oh and by the way, catch a great 1/2 time show... or for every 2-fers sold, enjoy 1/2 on a pizza at (wherever).

Geeze.

POST OF THE THREAD!!! :) :) :) :)

I'm here, I havn't been hiding. Work you know. First thanks B4L and MMop for remembering that I am pro-BU and BU has /will always have my support. NO-ONE will send me down I-74 to watch BB unless I want to.
As for letting me slide, forget it as I have done nothing wrong here and have been the target of some pretty cheap shots by only a couple of peoplehere who should know better. If the one wants to talk about saying adsurb and stupid things he just needs to reread his posts in this thead. The other poster talks about absolutely ludicrous. The only absolute ludicrous thing I know is that he asked the ? if I was the one who said something in a post that ICC starting 5 were better than BU's 5. He has the right to look up ALL MY Past Posts. He knows I never said anything of the sort and I must of missed that one as I would have had something to say to the one who did. The intent here may have been to discredit me in front on the readers here.
Read all my past posts, anyone, and you will find NOTHING NAGATIVE about BU, JL & Staff and Players! Just my opinions and positive things.
Now for my post, witch I have been made out to be anti BU by these two and given my walking papers to take I-74 and root for ISU.
First, I will not take any of it back! It was and still is my opinion that the non-conf home games are not doing much to to excite me. The Y and high school thing was as Squirral said,
Obviously it's a post in jest, not a flaming attempt.
Maybe it was a weak attempt at humor, but I laughed.
And that is all that was meant by it. Contrary to what others would like people to believe.
As for the non-conf home games its a awful slate. I'm sorry but I have never been one who can make honey out of crap. There are only two games of the 7 (not counting the backetbuster) that BU may not win by 20 or more, but will win. As for BU in the Florida tournment my hats off to JL and his staff for pulling this togather. Great Job!
My only regret is that all the games are away but maybe there will be some on TV, if not I will be at the radio. Have not given up on the idea of going "work maybe in the way".
One last thing, even with the awful home non-conf games,
BU Will Win the MVC this Year
Oh I almost forgot, thanks Vokal26 for informing one where the the Y is and some who play there. Also if anyone who has tickets to any of the home non-conf games and cannot attend, let me know, as I know someone who will take all he can get! Of course he won't pay for them and they have to be lower bowl only.
