If it does end up all-Catholic, I think The Catholic League sounds best. I don't think it'll be a Catholic league though. Probably more like the WCC, lots of Catholic schools, all private.

I doubt they would want any reference in the name of their conference to Catholic, religion, etc...
it would have an impact on recruiting, although perhaps not as much as calling some league a "Jewish League" or a "Muslim League"

I agree as well as branding for media consumption. This country has come a long way in terms of religious tolerance but there's still a way to go so why alienate anyone. As another poster stated the'll probably look more like The WCC.

I keep hearing that the east coast C7 schools want a 10 school league. DePaul wants Creighton in the league, which as you can imagine due to distance the other east coast schools are not to anxious to admit. There's a strong relationship between DePaul and Creighton. The President of Creighton sits on DePaul's board. We can expect four outcomes within the next year, which two of them can help BU's chances of entering an improved conference or improving the MVC:

1. CU is admitted into the new C7 conference with only 10 members - 55%
2. CU is admitted but in a 16-20 two division conference - 35%
3. CU is not admitted and drags DePaul and SLU into The Valley - 5%
4. CU is not admitted and no change for The Valley - 5%

I believe once logistics are worked out the new conference will look to expand. My belief is why wait for expansion? I'm also betting the Xavier and Butler are all but gone from the A-10. If that happens without the larger scenario expansion from the C7 we can expect either CU will stay in The Valley or SLU to take their place.

10 team league: add Xavier, Dayton and Butler
12 team league: add three above and George Washington and VCU.
The only way I see CU getting invited is going 14 and adding them and SLU.

GW? Not going to happen in any scenario. George Mason would come before them if they even look at another DC area team. G'town is very territorial and I'd never see them letting GW play in their league let alone play them twice a year. I heard Duquesne and that would make sense over GW or VCU for that matter.

Agreed that GW will not be high on their list. GW arena feels more like a gymnasium, especially when compared to Gtown playing at the Verizon Center.
