I liked them, but after last night, will we ever see them again is the real question...
I thought it was a cool idea at first and got excited about it. But then after 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts (I think too much, it's a curse) - we ask our biggest rival to wear their home uniforms in our placeUniforms that they win in
On 5th thought, it should have been a red out with us wearing white and ISU should have been wearing their road uniforms that they lose in. I hope we don't ask another team ever again to come into our place wearing their home uniforms. If you think about it 2, 3, 4, times - it had to pump up the ISU players.
Not true- alternate color jerseys are still used by numerous college and NBA teams.
Talking to one of the student managers before the game, he said that they were trying to be able to bring them to St. Louis in case they have two "road" games in a row but that would be up to the schools admins and most importantly the MVC.
See..now this I guess I just don't understand...
If the opposing team is wearing white, why should it matter whether we're in the red or black?
I can see the point of us being at home bc ISU had to change their uniforms, BUT that makes no sense if we're the road team.
Virtually every team in the NHL has a third jersey, as do quite a few teams in the MLB, NBA, college, heck even the bears have 3 different jerseys (White, Blue, and Orange). Having a third jersey is very common and fans do seem to like that, especially in hockey where fans always look really hard to find leaks about their teams new alternate uniforms.
I'm with you DC, I really liked the black uniforms. Talking to one of the student managers before the game, he said that they were trying to be able to bring them to St. Louis in case they have two "road" games in a row but that would be up to the schools admins and most importantly the MVC.
I guess they have $$$$ to burn.
I thought they would keep them and use them on the road. But the paper said it was permission for a 1 time thing

That's a nice idea, but I don't know of any conference that has allowed a team to wear their "alternate" jersey in the conference tournament, and also I don't think the NCAA has ever allowed it in postseason play. So I think this is the last time we will see them this year.
On the surface, I thought it was great. Uniforms looked slick, crowd got into it and responded well, both big positives.
But once you think about it a little more, you realize Kirk's point in his column was a good one. This was nothing more than a cheap gimmick to get people in the seats. Which is a little more understandable for say... the BracketBuster game against a mostly unknown Drexel team, but the fact that we needed to pull this against our arch-rival and a team that is tied with us for third place in the Valley is borderline pathetic.
Black uniforms. Remove all the seats so EVERYONE has to stand up. Play the fight song more often. Get a new scoreboard. New mascot. New logo.
It's all whistling past the graveyard.
What we really need to return to the glory days are new cheerleader outfits! Oh ... and just maybe a horse or two inside so we can play with the big boys.
Bring the field house back and play in it.
My pro baseball team (Atlanta Braves) has an alternate red jersey for Sunday home games, Wessler is just being an old lets not do anything different _art, it just gave him something else to write and complain about, I thought this team was about the players and fans and most thought it was great.
I didn't like it but I'm old so maybe that's why.
