Blast from the past

While at the tournament I saw a player I instantly recognized. Those of you old enough to remember the Sheriff as he was called aka David Thirdkill. Getting a bite to eat at the concession stand and introduced myself as remembering him in his playing days at Bradley. Was not a long conversation but told him I really enjoyed how he could clamp down on opponents best player down. Hence the nickname of the Sheriff. Told him whenever he wanted to come back for a visit, sure the fans would love to see him. Upon finishing speaking I just said Once a Brave always a Brave. Responded with a big Thank You and a big smile.

Good to know Thirdkill was there. I also saw Phil Gilbert, who has been to many previous Arch Madness games.

I had a nice chat with David at the team hotel a few years ago when he came during the team's send-off celebration. There aren't any people left at Bradley who have connections with Thirdkill's era (the early 1980's), so a few of the older fans were probably the only people he actually knew.

I bumped into him in the hotel lobby back in 2016 at the MVC Tournament and guided him
up to the 4th floor where the team sendoff was, and told him where Dave Snell was so he could make sure to get an interview

Great to see LOTS of former players attend the tourney this year. In addition to these guys, I noticed Danny Adams, Cade Hardke, Sam Hennessy, Theron Wilson, Roger Phegley. Probably a bunch I missed…. Call them out when you see them. These guys want to know they are remembered and appreciated. Just another great sign for our beloved program to see this brotherhood remain.

Dub - I forgot to tell you that the family that tried to "commandeer" our sits on Friday was the Adams Family (Danny's that is).
I wouldn't have recognized Phil AT ALL if someone didn't mention it...and Zobrist too, who I hadn't seen even in photos since the late 1990s!
Loved Cade's constant smile and energy! Just AWESOME to see/hear that so many former Braves turned out in support! Even Darrell Brown Jr. tweeted about Bradley in Arch Madness, so great he still supports BU.
