I just wanted to start a thread to remind everyone that they are here of their own volition. None of us pay even one single red cent to be here, to enjoy the usually good discussion...but lately...there have been a bunch of whiny cry-babies - most claiming to be men - on here.

You're a fan if you think you are a fan. Why do you get all bent out of shape over things someone says on here? Its an internet message board that has very little to no bearing on anything whatsoever.

As far as I'm concerned, I like the fact that this is BU positive board. All the trash and junk on VT or the other board don't entice me at all. I think the mods do a great job...and its a job that they pay to do (they fund the site and we are just their guests) because they are genuinely trying to grow enthusiasm for BU Athletics.

If you feel oppressed...leave...just quit whining already so we can get back to actual discussion.

Agreed! I find it amazing that people on certain boards can't stand BradleyFans, yet they seem to obsess over it every day. That place is seriously lacking!

I look at it like a television or radio station......if you don't like what's on, it really is as simple as turning the channel! It's not that difficult.

Define "whining"....is that an opposite view of someone else....is it whining if someone wishes BU would win the Valley...is it whining if someone wishes others would recognize JL is the Valleys best coach...is it it whining if we think 20 wins is not what it used to be....is it whining if someone constantly derides the "other board".....

Just not sure what the definition of "whining" is.....

No. Whining is when people attack JL supporters, vehometly almost always. Then when people disagree with their anti-JL stance, their cry and whine that their views are being suppressed. It's when people provide stats to support their arguement, then people who NEVER use stats to back up their argument attack those same statistics. It's when people cry about having posts removed when they reflect on BU negatively.

I disagree with people on the board often, and do not believe JL is the valley's best coach, as I've often stated. But I manage to do so in a way that had almost never resulted in a post being deleted. Nor do I feel offended if people disagree with me. The funny thing is I know who all the college students who post on here are (It's pretty easy to figure out), and their level of maturity when posting is far greater than many posters here.

And for the record DRU, none of this is aimed at you. I like and welcome your posts. :)

there are some purported "news" stations that obsess over what's going on at other news stations....and half their broadcasts are swipes at what's said "over there".
In the end, "over there" has 400% higher and stronger ratings because people are turned off by the petty and juvenile attacks....bingo....


ps--- note that even with all the recent threads with whining...none of the posts have been moderated, edited, nor deleted..
in other words....even the whining about not being able to whine is off base.
Yes-- the whining, to almost the extreme degree is STILL allowed here.....only when it violates the well discussed, and aforementioned rules does it get disallowed.

We are considering starting the Whiners Forum.

But we were afraid that would put a couple other message boards completely out of business.:D
 
The whiners are few and far between. I like coming here.
Just one or two obsessed freaks who must read every post here and take it to bash elsewhere. But nobody reads them. The hit counts don't change in months.

Agreed. I haven't seen any "whining" but maybe you see whining where others see discussion. Who knows.

But, as stated, if someone doesn't like the board they don't have to stay. I like the board. I like Bradley basketball. I've stated on numerous occasions on the board and via private message how good a job the moderators do and what a well run site it is.

I don't have to agree with everything or everyones opinions but it doesn't mean I don't think this is a great message board with passionate fans. Since I'm a passionate fan I feel I belong. If someone else doesn't, no sweat off my back.

This isn't a contest about who is right or wrong or who is the World's Best Bradley Fan. There isn't a test you have to pass to become a fan. That's what makes it great.
 
I had noticed the same thing, especially with a few of the more recent threads. Whether I agree or not, I do not enjoy reading 7 or 8 page threads of people tearing EACH OTHER down. Therefore I am going to take a break from Bradleyfans for awhile. I will log in to check my PM's occasionally, but other than that, I will chat with many of you come August.
 
I'm just here to see what's next on Mac's and Flipper's avatar. Since Flipper has seen to have taken a swim lately, I have not been on the board much for a couple months. So, I assume I am not being referred to in the initial post... If I am, I want some cheese to go with my wine (whine)! Preferably a nice strong chedder with some wafer crackers please. By the way, I am an immature old guy!!!
