Yes - there is a rule that does not allow playing a team already played earlier in the year and also against conference opponents.

Hey... I'm just happy E Illinois is a HOME team like us... cause after the first few matchups, they tend to match up based on locale/region regardless of RPI.

No BradleyBrave. I just think we are gonna drop a little in the RPI over the next 3-4 weeks... enough so that we will be out of consideration for games against "RPI boosters". We will get a "regional" opponent. And on that list of ROAD teams, those are some of the closer teams to us.

Go ahead... take a stab, tell me what you think. Maybe we hang in the top 75 of the RPI and get consideration for a better opponent. I hope Elgin goes to bat for us, cause when they match the opponents, Ruff could be returning very soon... and by Feb 23rd (BracketBuster Saturday 2008), Ruff hopefully will be back and everyone healthy. I kinda feel sorry for the opponent if the Ruff injury isn't taken into consideration when matching us up.

I don't really know, I don't pay attention to the BracketBusters that much. We've dropped 4 straight and are still in the 80's RPI-wise. I would think that if we can win a few games in the next few weeks (which I think we can), that we can maintain or improve upon our current RPI. I could be way off, who knows.
 
I'm still crossing my fingers for Niagara but it looks like they have spiked substantially during their 5 game win streak that included a win vs. Marist, 3 road wins, and Cable Car Classic Championship over host Santa Clara.
 
Update with RPI's from collegerpi.com based on games played thru 1-12. We are less than 3 weeks away from the announcement of matchups which will be on Feb 2nd. There will be 14 matchups televised on the ESPN family of channels. They usually try to match the top Home vs Road - then keep RPI's heavily in mind for the rest of the TV games... then it's all downhill from there as they try to match teams more on a Regional basis.

Squirrel's hope for Niagara might be nice. I put BU in bold red (obviously) and italicized some good possibilities IMO in dark red.

Bradley is in a position to ascend in the RPI by Feb 3rd when BracketBuster Matchups are made. Bradley plays 4 of the next 6 at home and the 2 road games are at Wichita St and EVille. At best, if Bradley were to win all 6, I would guess maybe a 60-70 jump in the RPI (I have no idea - really tho).
 
I wish there was a way we could get on TV, but I don't think that's possible with the RPI hole we've dug. Let's just win 'em all and see what happens. :)
 
im having fantasies already.... bu getting hot, espn comes back into peoria only to see bradley led by a surprise appearance of Cpt. Brave win the bracketbuster in a blowout and then a couple weeks later bu wins the tourny in st. louis and the students charge the floor led by none other than....Cap'n. (superfan not far behind)

Any news on Ruffins progress?
 
the Captain looked pretty sad at the end of the game against Wichita. He even forgot his ball that the cheerleaders gave him. I talked with him a bit during the game, he mentioned it was very nice that he got a ball from the cheerleader...he just wished he could have seen a win. I didn't ask him if he was coming back again. He only seems to appear sporadically.

I am taking my first stab at this year's top 20 matchups. We are 9 days away from the TV games being set and 11 from all games set.

Matchups listed with HOME team on left with their RPI vs the ROAD team on the right.

There might be some questions and fire away... but their are some teams that would match up better based on RPI or locale, but they have already played each other (examples: Drake has played at St Mary's, so they will NOT play each other in the BBuster).

Remind me again how the TV rights for BracketBuster works. ESPN owns the rights to televise the games. If they decide NOT to televise the BU game, can Insight/Comcast buy the rights to televise the game?
