BracketBusters 2009

Siena was the one team you'd figure would want to "protect" its RPI the most. I'm guessing they had a choice between UNI and N'eastern, and ESPN let them pick, and they chose the "name" opponent. Interesting.

Man, the CAA is going to be pissed. Whatever 3 games they get for their leaders will be against inferior teams (with the probably exception of Creighton). They got screwed by the unbalanced home/road team split.

Does it seem like UNI gets coddled a little? I sorta remember a couple years ago the comment coming out that UNI got to go to Nevada cause they needed the rpi boosting higher profile opponent. Now they get another gift? Wow. Maybe the UT-Martin talk was right on for Bradley.

There is no question UNI's bubble got a lot stronger today without ever taking the court. Any other opponent and UNI's bubble remains weak.

I'm telling you. This selection process alone will pop bubbles. It's incredulous.

That being said, UNI has their 2nd life. Multi-bid scenarios for the MVC are back in play for now. Of course, a multi-bid scenario would almost make a UNI win tommorrow mandatory for anything to really happen.

I don't understand where all this buzz about UT-Martin is coming from.

I know I will be surprised with matchups. Always am. But I will be stunned/shocked and in denial for about an hour if we get UT-Martin.

Where you getting that TAS? You getting a leak? You got a funny feeling? Or is it just gas? :-P

I was the one who posted earlier that I had a feeling that Bradley might end up with UT-Martin or San Diego. Just basing that on comparable RPI's.

But wait. If the RPI's don't matter any more in regards to the NCAA Tournament selections, why should they matter here?! :D

I agree UNI getting Siena is great for the Valley. I think two bids are very possible now, IF UNI beats Siena. That and at least an 8-2 Valley record in the Bracketbusters. :)

However I don't think this is a must win for UNI tomorrow night. They will probably lose a couple of more games and still be in good shape to win the Valley. Any more loses though and things could get a bid more fuzzy for them.

It's not about winning the Valley anymore for UNI, although posting 15-3 or so is a huge part of things.

UNI needs marquee wins. After @Siena, @Bradley and @ISU right now figure to be their next biggest potential wins. They need to most impressive wins possible.

Basically, I'm saying, if you're going to lose, don't lose the toughest conference games. You'd rather win at Bradley and ISU and lose to E'ville and SIU than to lose at Bradley and ISU and win vs. E'ville and SIU.
