Bradley 82 Fluminense 61- final stats

To me, it's a good sign to see Roberts listed as a guard, Brown listed as a Forward, plus a center!
(Although I realize this may not be set in stone for the season....)

Looking at the box score, it appears like we haven't yet abandoned the chucking 3's offense, and also looks like our shooting is about where it was last year. However, I refuse to get concerned about anything in the 1st week of August. Glad we're getting a head start on the upcoming season, and glad we've made it through game 1 healthy.

I noticed that too, but wow...without 3's they were 28 for 41 from 2pt. Although by the sounds of the game report there were alot of dunks/fastbreaks

absence

absence

I haven't been here for a while and I don't know if it has been reported here, but i couldn't help but notice AW's conspicuous absence in the box score. Did he not make the trip? Still rehabbing? Just curious...

combined totals for our post players (Sam S., Will E., AT) were...
6-9, 14 pts, 11 rebs, and a couple blocks...

I will take that any day against the big, physical international pro players!
Our guards will come around, and when they do, BU will really have some good games.

Don't forget Taylor Brown in the post player mix - he was 6-10 from the field, and only 2 of those were 3's (0-2). Knowing TB's game, I am guessing most of those other 8 shots came from about 15 feet and in. I am hopeful that when WE gets back to 100% and logging big minutes, and JP becomes part of the big man rotation, that we're going inside more and shooting less 3's. Without Andrew Warren playing and taking a lot of shots, we just aren't a very good perimeter shooting team. It doesn't mean we can't be good though.

gotcha...but I was just looking at the guys who will share the 5 position, as Taylor will be on the court with those guys
but the three I named will probably divvy up the minutes at the 5-spot.

Yeah, forgot about AT. Unfortunately he's gone from a highly-touted 3-star recruit to unforgettable.

Looks like the guys are doing a little sightseeing on their day off Sunday. Will Egolf just filed this picture on his Twitter page-

This is what the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain looks like...

Coach Les just got back with the team and posted these tweets on his Twitter page:

The players are really taking to the Brazilian culture and doing well with the portugese language. Food is surprisingly very good!17 minutes ago from web

Brazilian food rocks. Hopefully this'll inspire the coach to get together with POB when he's done in the NBA and open a churrascaria in Peoria.

Heh. Hope the team eats at a lot of churrascarias in Brazil. AT is bound to gain 15 to 20 pounds on this trip. :)

For those who don't know, a churrascaria is a Brazilian steakhouse that's all you can eat.

A churrascaria is where they bring Pork and beef on a sword and slice it off at your table, once you eat at one of those places you will not find anything better in Brazil. They opened one up recently in St.Louis out towards Arnold,Mo. I have it on my list of places to dine at the next time I travel to St.Louis.

in case anyone interested, I found some video of the Fluminense team playing, but these are not vids of the BU game...

These show a packed house, but the sunlight coming in the window on the end must be distracting.

Fluminense is very well known for the soccer teams they sponsor, but "basquete" (basketball) is the "poor sister"
and is not well known nor as widely followed. Oddly, the basketball team is still called --
"Fluminense FC" (after the futbol club)
