All 5 starters averaging double figures? Wow, I dare you to find any other team in the country who is doing that. The scariest part is that any one of them can blow you up for 20+ points. Egelseder is their biggest weapon because of his ability to pass out of the post. Its a double edged sword...double him in the post, he passes out to one of their 3-4 3-pt shooters. Man up on him with no double team in the post and he is a very sound scorer. It is very difficult to win that battle, as Drake learned on Saturday.

Egelseder has been slowed by an injury off and on this year, but is looking pretty healthy these days. The key for UNI is perimeter shooting....when their shots are falling, plus Egelseder scoring in the post, they're tough to beat. It'll be interesting to see if we zone them...I'm guessing we'll throw an old fashioned 2-3 zone together.

You usually don"t zone a 3 point shooting team unless you matchup your defenders to their best shooters; I think we start in a man and hopefully keep switching defenses on them just to keep them off guard. This needs to be one of our best offensive performances if we expect to have any chance at a win. Hopefully we watched the tape of their home loss to Ind.St. to see what types of defense they used against them.

You're right RF...I didn't word my post very well. I meant to indicate that a nice compact 2-3 zone would in all likelihood take the big guy out of the mix and make them beat us with perimeter shooting....good catch

I think if you play 2-3 zone against uni we'll get killed. They shoot way to well from 3. I really think we are much quicker and more athletic than they are. Man to man is the way to go. I wouldn't double the post either. Let the big guy beat us I dont think he is very good anyway.

Drake played a matchup zone and got massacred. We need to play man-to-man defense and get Eglseder/O'Rear in foul trouble. Nobody talks about O'Rear but he's definitely no slouch ... liked his game every time I've seen him play.

By the way ... Eglseder is DEFINITELY a good player ... anyone who's watched him would have difficulty arguing otherwise.

I've seen Eglseder play several times and havent been impressed....I'd rather get beat by him then let there 3 point shooters go wild.

I also think man is the probably our best shot to defend a team like this. I have seen Egleseder too, and while he was never able to do too much damage, he always looked like the kind of guy really struggling with injury. He'd pound us for like 30 seconds and then be hobbled. If he's healthy, we don't really have a player to match up with him well at all. I also really like O'Rear's game.

It'll be a tough one, but it's one we have to win. GO BU!

I have a good feeling about this game. I think the boys and Mr. Les are going to be ready to do battle after a rough SIU game. Go Braves!

Chris Roberts I think is the 'x' factor in this game. We have to get him back on track. We need him to lock down Johnny Moran, and to be active again on the glass and defensively. He was kind of invisible on Sunday.

Idk why either....but I also have a good feeling about this game. No sense to it whatsoever. If I were betting believe me it'd be on UNI by at least 15. I just have a good feeling about the game though right now.

I think we have to get SM back involved with the offense....its time for him to get double digits again and take some heat off the other players on O'! TW and DD will get their pts and anything from the post would be a bonus...might be a game to play AT a couple of minutes in the 1st half...I think we will have many fouls in the paint on this game!

I'm more in this camp as well. I'd rather turn UNI into a 1 dimensional offense rather than let them establish an inside out game. Stay at home on the shooters, and crash the boards when Eglseder does shoot. Maybe show double on Eglseder when he puts the ball on the floor, but if he picks it up, get back home on the shooter, but I wouldn't all-out double him on the catch. He's too big to double off the catch, and would be able to pass out of the double team too easily in my opinion, especially when our double would come in the form of a 6'4" player at best.
