Bradley blown out by Loyola- Final- Loyola 64 Bradley 49

...I can't believe that the long-standing financial supporters of Bradley athletics will tolerate this much longer...

The majority already have withdrawn their support or plan not to renew when their current commitment ends. That is a big part of why Bradley is losing so much money on athletics. Most schools would have recognized this problem long before now and made changes. But Bradley has people running it who have their reputations on the line and they aren't about to admit failure, even when it is obvious to everyone. Thus we get people like the Board Chairman sending out replies to letters with delusional claims that we have unprecedented success.

we are not out of this game - there's over 18 minutes left!!!
Why are we (Cunningham) jacking up a three early in the shot clock??

Got to get stops!!! Feed the post, get some whistles, go to the FT line...
Please bench Omari

PS- we have ZERO bench points

good high screen that freed up Tramique for a drive - now nail the FT

btw - their Gentile Center is largely empty, hollow sounding, and looks bad on TV with so many empty seats....
Memo to Dr. Cross & Geno - this is exactly what we're in for if you move the games to our similar sized arena on campus...

in the words of Dennis Green
they (Bradley) are who we thought they are....
bad shooters, weak defense, turnovers, poor decisions, and unable to hang with the teams picked at the bottom of the Valley

that last possesion was classic...dribble & juke for 30 seconds then jack up a wild airball that almost gave someone a concussion!!

kudos to Josh Cunningham - he is working to become one of our better offensive options......and we do NOT have a go-to guy....

and we do NOT have a go-to guy....

But according to Kirk and Dave, Jones, Sutherland, and Barnes are all "go-to guys".

The score now is 63-45...officially another in the long list of blowouts we have had under Geno. This staff simply has no clue how to compete, even with the team picked 10th in the Valley.

Coach Ford needs to go! He has had 4 years to get his players in here and his system. Losing by 18 to Loyola?? Losing to Augustana?? Come on man! Please bring pride and excitement back to Bradley.

Final:
Loyola 64 Bradley 49

Another embarrassing loss, and another game where I could not see any trace of preparation or coaching from our staff. We continue to be the most predictable and worst road team I have ever seen. We make no adjustments, and play right into the strength of any other team. Our passing is abysmal, even with Sutherland. We were clueless against Loyola's zone, even though we had to know it was coming, it appeared we were not prepared in the least for it.

So Bradley falls to 5-9, Loyola goes to 11-2.
Maybe we should hire Porter Moser, who I believe is a terrible coach. Anyone would be an improvement over what we see every game with Bradley.

Final stats, and as usual, they are terrible-

Loyola is one of the worst teams we will face the rest of the year, and they handled us like we were Eureka.
Just as I predicted, the MVC teams will scout us and will be ready for anything we try, and since we are 100% predictable, and the coaches never prepare the team to actually try something different, we will have trouble winning any games the rest of the year.
Basically Bradley has become North Carolina A&T or Florida A&M- we are about the worst that Division I has to offer.

the run we hoped for never came - we have no offensive capability...
Loyola clearing the bench -

final score 64-49
Cunningham 8 pts, 10 rebs- the only slightly bright spot

People like Da Coach and Tornado have always argued against the idea that Geno inherited a "bare cupboard" like the Journal Star reporters and Geno himself used to say. I would argue this team has players with talent, if not transcendent talent for this level. So if you add up the facts that he had players with talent and currently has players with talent and the reality that Geno can not coach becomes abundantly clear. I can't wait for the days when the Braves aren't coached by this hack, because then maybe we will be able to have a season worth holding our heads up high for.

I can't wait to see the laughable excuses coming from Geno, and his public relations experts at the PJ Star for this debacle.

I am sorry if others have heard this before, but I have been saying it from day 1- this is all fallout from a poorly planned move back in 2011 that never should have happened. Their coaching search was bungled badly because none of the better coaches wanted to work under our current AD and President, even when offered twice or tripling of their salary.

Bradley is in the worst possible position any Division I school could ever find themselves in, and it is all the fault of Joanne Glasser and Mike Cross. Bradley basketball (and nearly every other sport) is worse than it has ever has been, yet they are locked into ridiculous overblown contracts, and can't afford to do the right thing and fire everyone. Yet, there is no chance this will get any better, since we can't land any players who now want to come here, and we constantly get outcoached by everyone, even Division III coaches. Even if we could get players, the player turnstiles that see half the recruits leave within 1 or 2 years, and the abysmal coaching makes it impossible for any player to get better or for this team to ever see success.

Sorry Bradley fans, but the glory days, and even the days of being competitive are behind us now.

Anybody listen to Geno's post-game radio excuse show yet.....I wonder which one(s) he will use today? Personally, I like "Loyola is BY FAR the most talented team we've seen this year. We defended well, but struggled offensively". Or how about the well-worn classic "injuries are just killing us, Dave". "We're all looking forward to having Warren back on the floor soon". "Don't count on him for much, though, because I'm sure he will need a few weeks not knock off the rust".

Ye gods! Out-coached by Porter Moser. 65 year fan, 25 year season ticket holders. For auld lang syne, we'll be attending our last BU game Saturday night. Don't think this program can ever recover from this mess.

How come Cross doesnt take notes anymore?

Because the Geno Ford coaching style is easy to memorize.....recruit poorly, don't prepare or execute a winnable game-plan, and make a million excuses for personal failure. No need for Cross to write it down anymore because it's always the same!

as I said, our next five games are...

SIU at home - winnable
at Wichita -
Evansville at home
UNI at home
at Illinois State

..I really don't see us getting more than 1-2 wins out of those next five games...
so even if we go 2-3 in them, we start the Valley race at 2-4 ...and we're looking at another 20-loss season!

one more note....

To the guys who mostly post on TOB if they're even still interested in this stuff they're seeing....
- hate to say it but we told ya so - and have been telling ya so for 3 1/2 years - it'd be nice if you fessed up on how wrong you were...
