Bradley blown out by Loyola- Final- Loyola 64 Bradley 49

How come Cross doesnt take notes anymore?

Besides, Cross can't do anything about it anyway - he works for "her". Maybe Mike Cross ought to do a Q&A with bradleyfans.com - perhaps give his take on "the championship experience" that he envisions for all BU student athletes.

you don't think he ever really took notes, do you??
It was just a smoke screen to imply he knew what he was doing when he fired all the coaches in all the sports that used to compete at the DI-level in order to replace them all with coaches who cannot compete at this level...
However - the intervening time & events have proven the exact opposite...
We have good players, good athletes - there is absolutely zero excuse for the poor quality of play in every sport...
Even when we were losing one or two top starters for entire seasons - he argued that injuries were not an acceptable excuse - and yet now, with a couple marginal starters missing a few games with toe sprains, etc - we use the injury excuse all the time

For once Geno had no excuses. He said, "The offense took a step backwards and the defense gave us no shot to win." I think that pretty much sums it up. We were 3 for 19 from 3 and NO ONE from the 3, 4 or 5 spots shot a FT. How is that possible. Tramique is finding Division 1 basketball is a little bit different from Junior College. Chad said it best after the game and it's really been true for these last 4 seasons. We have a lot of individuals but we just don't play as a team. That's on the coaching staff and until that changes we will be doomed to Thursday night at Arch Madness and getting our butts handed to us on a consistent basis.

T - I think my comment about cross taking notes was just sarcasm anyway. I really don't believe that he EVER took in-game notes to evaluate Ford's performance. I also don't think that he's hiding behind his own imperfections in the job - I say this because Cross and Ford aren't the ones to blame anyway. OK, so they're not GREAT at their jobs - I agree with that. But by all accounts, Cross didn't hire Geno anyway! How can this train wreck be HIS fault? Of course, Cross will shortly fall on the axe for this (sorry, Mike, but somebody has to be the fall guy) - but at the end of the day, we all know WHO the problem really is!!

BTW - there's a new directional curse starting...
This loss at Loyola is the 21st consecutive game without a win away from Peoria

it is also the 66th consecutive game Bradley has played (two full seasons) without a road win anywhere outside of Chicago and
vs. a team sitting in last place in their conference.

we have truly become one of the worst road teams in all of Division I

Final:

Loyola is one of the worst teams we will face the rest of the year, and they handled us like we were Eureka.

I disagree...Loyola may be the 3rd best team in the MVC this season, and are a virtual lock for a top 5 finish. You may not be a believer yet, but I've seen enough of all 10 MVC teams this season to know that this is true.

I have seen multiple games of every team, too. And my track record is pretty accurate with my predictions. I have been the best predictor of MVC games of anyone who has participated in the pick ems the last several years. I am not saying I am infallible, and we can agree to disagree, but Loyola has not played an extremely difficult schedule, and the only tough road game they have played, they got annihilated by 35 points. They will have trouble winning any MVC road game, and I believe there are 5 or 6 teams better in the MVC. Plus they have the disadvantage of being coached by Porter Moser. I am far from alone in my assessment of him as a poor coach.
I appreciate what Moser has accomplished so far, and I agree they are better than they were last year, but I will still predict they'll be among the bottom 4 MVC teams, just as I said.

Kirk Wessler just posted this - he saw bright spots in today's performance by Bradley

Despite bad Bradley performance, I saw bright spot, & by golly, it's
New Year's Eve, so I wrote about it. Will be posted @pjstarsports soon.

https://twitter.com/KirkWessler/status/550433610486910976

Then there's this tweet from the President of the Bradley student body
"@WaltLemon and come back to @bradleyu because we miss you and need you desperately. #WinnerWalt"

Bright spot? The only one that I see is that we're one game closer to the end of Geno's contract (even if that's still three or four years away)!

Anybody listen to Geno's post-game radio excuse show yet.....I wonder which one(s) he will use today? Personally, I like "Loyola is BY FAR the most talented team we've seen this year. We defended well, but struggled offensively". Or how about the well-worn classic "injuries are just killing us, Dave". "We're all looking forward to having Warren back on the floor soon". "Don't count on him for much, though, because I'm sure he will need a few weeks not knock off the rust".

He said they were atrocious.

This team is bad, very bad. The only light at the end of the tunnel is another train. I don't think the talent is as bad as this team is playing. The coaching however, is as bad as I've ever seen. Geno would be well served to resign and take his sense of humor to the comedy club on Farmington Road. He may be funny, but he isn't a basketball coach. Shaheen needs to step to the plate and make changes. If he doesn't, that explains why moral
at CAT is as bad as it is. I have watched BU basketball since the 1963-64 season and have seen BU lose more games by bigger margins in the last 2 years, against weaker teams, than I have in all prior years combined. This is not about Les vs. Ford. I'm tired of hearing that. People need to get past that. That is wasted energy to bring that up all the time. People's minds are not going to change and at this point it is non relevant. We'd be much better off if the idle talk of past decisions would be placed on mounting an effort to change the current course of this university and basketball program.

Here is Dave Reynolds' report card- ALL F's!

And yet here is Kirk Wessler's column- he says he is tired of writing about the negatives of Bradley (although I have seen many) so his New Year's resolution is to focus only on the positives. And here they are in brief form-
1) Bradley shot 100% on free throws (4 of 4)
2) And Josh Cunningham had a good game
http://www.pjstar.com/article/20141231/SPORTS/141239815/12701/SPORTS

I guess we could add another positive- nobody got injured or killed

And here is Dave Reynolds' article about the game-
http://www.pjstar.com/article/20141231/SPORTS/141239825/10962/SPORTS

After lauding Bradley with accolades in week's last article, Geno kind of sums this game up with a couple sentences-
"We were not good on defense. Offensively, our flow was atrocious and our turnovers were way too high. That was bad offense.”

But at least I got a laugh this morning ...

Read the column by the SIU/Carbondale columnist - just the first couple lines...

Then read the first couple lines of Kirk Wessler's column...
either they think alike or they read each others' columns and...maybe borrow material..
They sure are similar....

The SIU coulumnist..
"Normally, New Year’s resolutions are pointless.
Personally speaking, they’re usually passe by Jan. 3.

However, this year I’m going to make a real effort
to be more courteous and understanding ....."

Kirk Wessler's column
"I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. Despite best
intentions, they seldom last.

Still, I’m so tired of writing depressing evaluations
of Bradley basketball, I considered a resolution for
2015: Don’t write bad stuff about the Braves."

...sorry to tell ya which one is time & date-stamped earlier...
it's the Les Winkeler column by about 8 hours...

Sutherland is going to be fine! He gets a adjustment period.

Cunningham is what we thought we got and thats the best freshman in the MVC! :)

When Jones gets back ...... Hes one more guy out there to hope his shots go down. When we cant seem to do anything right!

Porter is not THAT bad.

Loyola is much improved, and they ended our season.

It is what it is ...... another road loss! Go undefeated at home and steal 1 or 2 on the road and you avoid Thurs.

Hey we didnt get beat at home to ISU blue..........
