Bradley commitment- 2013- Jordan Swopshire

Glad to see us get a recruit, and can't be mad about getting a solid wing player. Welcome to the Hilltop, Jordan. Now, let's fill that final scholarship with a big. Unless Nate really bulks up, we're going to be lacking in the post.

Let's hope for a true inside post type next.
I'm with you on this one. We can't go into next season with just our current bigs and expect to move up much in the league. Do really like our new people but agree with "T" we need some 3 point shooters and a big. Think we will see 1 to 3 people leave but most likely just 2. Tucker and Swopshire should give us very good 3's for 4 years. I'm getting excited.

I think we'll up inking Delaney to start at the 3, and a couple of bigs (one JUCO, one high schooler/prep schooler).

Very good news. I am a little surprised that it was another freshman. Not sure how much the three freshmen will help next year. Kind of like Geno building for the long term instead of going all juco.

A juco big does seem like the way to go with the next one.

Go Braves.

Geno has one more three that he wants to sign, who would be the starter. Zecevic would likely then redshirt (I presume). I'd also look for two post players (1 JUCO/1 high school or prep school).

Sounds like a good plan to me. Of course that depends on who would leave to free up the extra scholarship or two. If the juco big is a good player and the starter at the three is Delaney, this team could be real good next year. And maybe for several years to come.

I hope you are right.

I love how he is rated higher than 2 Indiana signees and a boatload of other BCS schools SF's

unfortunately the school changes have affected a few of the rankings but Swopshire has been mentioned in several Top 150 articles...
..if Delaney has a good series in Hutchinson at the NJCAA Nationals - then he'll get more offers - it'll be tough

I think Delaney is more about credit transfers than other opportunities.

btw - as long as we are talking 6-6 wing players - anyone see the games involving Edwardsville & Garret Covington??

Covington is going to WIU and actually looks to possibly be the best one of the best players at State who isn't on Simeon...
he is physically developed, consistent, - a decent ball handler and outside shooter - and impressive even on defense...
He hits almost 60% overall and is 100-182 on 3-pointers! (55%)
He also grabs 10 rebs a game and is among his team's leaders even in assists.

His teammate, Tre Harris, is also a 6-6 wing player who averages 18 & 10 and is an even more accomplished defender.

I really liked the Covington kid also. Coach Mo has done well getting him to WIU. Doesn't surprise me one bit though. He could always recruit. Covington and the PG from Lincolnshire were the best two kids not wearing a Simeon uni.Really liked the Morgan Park Jr. we're recruiting (Josh Cunningham). liked him better than the two Orr kids but they were pretty good to just not as good as Cunningham.I would be happy with all or any of the 3.

I watched Covington twice trying to figure out how a 6'5" sharpshooter was going to WIU....I mean he looked a little sloppy passing and ball handling....but a 6'5" sharpshooter doesn't need to ball handle lol

anyone know if it is grades/attitude/wants to stay close to home?

I think Swopshire is a great pickup. I think about how they say he is a SF but at 6'6", 20 or 30 years ago he would have been a center at Bradley

Sterling Brown from Proviso East is a pretty good player too.

Yes he was and he's going to SMU and play for Brown, jank and Jerrance. Got to talk to Jerrance a little bit and they love Sterling.

A host of teams offered him including Illinois

I can't remember but I am pretty sure he was second on Illinois' list behind players like Xavier Rathan Mayes and Demetrius Jackson so he committed elsewhere despite those players not choosing ILL then Tate grabbed the scholy

I really liked Sterling but the 2 Simeon guards Ill. got are very good. I think they can get major minutes next year. Saw them in early Dec.and wasn't impressed but this weekend changed my mind. Really like them both. Also really liked the Pollard kid we almost got .Think he's going to Dayton.
