Bradley extends radio coverage on WMBD

But I'm sure he's a much cheaper option than someone with more experience.

I don't understand why he could do women's games, but not the men's home games.

Stowell is a ledgend, and Lord knows BU and their fans love their history/ledgends!

At some point in time, Stowell would step down and retire from his color analyst job. Assuming he wasn't 'fired' or laid off, he chose this time to step down. Are some of you hoping he'd stay on until he dropped over during a broadcast?

Danny is in a tough spot trying to replace a ledgend. He isn't the first to be relatively inexperienced in a new job replacing a ledgend, nor will he be the last. If you are a BU fan, I would think you would support an Alum who is going to be giving it his best shot, and who obviously has a lot of passion for BU and the basketball program.

As for the WMBD "salary dump" inference, cheap shot. If true, I guess a lot of wealthy BU backers with Peoria area businesses could line up to sponsor the BU broadcasts and pay premium $$ to WMBD to help afford Stowell's salary...Where are you??

I suspect the amount paid to Stowell and Adams will be similar. It was never a "high-paying" job. The change had nothing to do with a "salary dump". WMBD needed a team that would stay together for all the games, not just home games. It was time for Stowell to step away for many reasons.

As a former radio person- I will certainly give DA the benefit of the doubt. He has a good partner in Dave- and part of the pbp guy's role is to both set up as well as allow the color guy to add keen insights.

Danny played the game- so I would expect his ability to see concepts that the average fan wouldn't and hopefully he can relate those. As someone who has done tv and radio- I find radio is easier in some ways for novices- because you aren't worried about where to look.

I wish him all the best.

I think this is a great point - If there was ever anyone to coach, mentor, and set up a color guy for success, it would be a 30+ year professional like Dave Snell. He is 2nd to none.

I'll give him a shot, but I think the sheer amount of b-ball and coaching experience will be missed from Coaches Buescher and Stowell. That, I think Danny would have a hard time replacing.

Wanted to post the same thing, but anything remotely critical is of course pure evil negativity. So, Ill just second you and let you get the :( for the day.

I'm echoing the "no" to DA on broadcasts. He seems like a great guy, but if his color commentary is anything like his interviews, it'll be very painful. Last year, he sounded like he was in some intro speech class or broadcast 101. Awful mike presence...here's hoping he's practicing. I, for one, will miss coach stowells incoherent ramblings, or my favorite, I think it was 2 years ago when he just left us hanging at halftime on a shot that went up at the buzzer...he just stopped talking altogether..classic

Thanks DRU- how goes the golf game?

Went to Vegas over Labor Day and didn't fare well- and Coyote Creek last Friday was no picnic either!

I say give DA a chance. His TV presence may not have been the best but it wasn't terrible by any means. I agree DA won't be able to give coaching insight like Buesch and Stowell but he will be able to tell us what JL is doing in any situation any why is he doing it. Can't wait till 10-15-10. Now lets get a big with our last ride.

I can live with someone who may bumble somewhat due to inexperience over horrible awareness.

I remember a couple instances on the TV broadcasts the last couple years:

-The question was asked when a particular team had yet to score "how many points do they have?"

-8 blocked shots were attributed to David Collins in a single half by one of the on-air personalities.

I'm more than willing to give the guy a chance here, like I said I like the guy and have hung out with him at the last MVC tourney games, but I am very skeptical and think there were probably a couple better choices.

Well said. I'll give DA a chance, but I also believe that there were probably a couple of better choices out there.

Isn't a little premature to start criticizing Danny before he ever does a single game? Anyone who knows or has ever talked to Danny knows he is a little shy, and on the TV broadcasts he was clearly nervous. I think on radio he'll do a good job and will develop into a knowledgeable and informative color guy. Let's give him a chance.

THAT, to me, is the key.

Don't get me wrong... Skewer him after a few games if you'd like... but give the guy a shot!

You bet:!: Everyone should get a shot:D Talking about shots, remember the home game he tied the record for # of 3's made:D Was it 6 or 7:doubt:

I didn't until just now.

I do remember him putting us over the top in the road game at Southern Miss in the '06 season. Yes they were awful. But prior to that, the DePaul season opener was like our only non-con road win in about 37 years (exaggerating, but not by much:lol:). . .at least it felt that way.

I don't think DA would have been hired if he didn't at least have some ability to talk. No question it's going to be tough to follow in Joe and Chuck's footsteps. Having done both radio play by play and color I can tell you it's much more important to have a good play by play man as you're the one who's driving the engine and then setting it up for the color guy. DA won't have a better guy to steer that engine than Dave Snell. Let's give DA a chance. Joe wasn't exactly John Madden when he started out.

Congrats Danny! Good luck to ya!

And it won't surprise me if Danny and Dave will be traveling with the team for road games this year. ;)

Does WMBD provide any way to listen to the games via a smartphone? Tried with my Blackberry, just can't figure it out. Would be very handy when I am on the road, without internet access.
