There are still several tournaments that have not filled out their fields yet, so it is likely the 3 teams not announced in a tournament yet will be in one.
Also note that both Illinois State and Valparaiso are listed in the Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. Two teams from the same conference don't usually participate in the same tournament unless they are assured they won't play each other. Maybe one of them will drop out and move to a different tournament?

That's odd having 2 Valley teams in the Virgin Islands. Maybe Valpo signed up before joining the Valley?

I hope Drake finds a good tournament. If they'll be one of the top teams again they'll need opportunities for signature wins, and Iowa and Iowa St have announced they'll stop playing Drake and UNI. The Jamaican tournament needs a 4th and already has LSU, Utah St and Rhode Island.

The Fort Myers Tip-off games are still 7 months away Nov. 25 & 27), and no announcement has been made yet which teams will face each other in the first round.
Here are the 2018-19 team stats and players for all 3 other teams (scroll further down these links to see more detailed stats)-
Kansas State- 25-9 (14-4, 1st in Big 12)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/kansas-state/2019.html#all_roster

Northwestern- 13-19 (4-16, 14th in Big Ten)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/northwestern/2019.html#all_roster

Pittsburgh- 14-19 (3-15, 14th in ACC)
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/schools/pittsburgh/2019.html#all_roster

All 3 of the other participating teams will be in a bit of a rebuilding mode. Here are some summaries of how the 3 teams might look next fall....

Kansas State had a terrific season in 2018-19. They won the Big 12 regular season, but were upset in the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament. They got an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament with a generous #4 seed and were upset by #13 seed UC Irvine in the first round. They lose their 3 top scorers from the 2018-19 season due to graduation. And their 4th highest scorer and best athlete Xavier Sneed, who would have been their best returning player, has declared for the NBA Draft, so it is unclear if he will return. They have some good talent returning, plus a good recruiting class, but they will not likely be as good as they were in 2018-19.-
https://www.kansas.com/sports/college/big-12/kansas-state/article228326704.html

Northwestern finished 14th and dead last in the Big Ten in 2018-19 with their 13-19, 4-16 record. And they lose their 3 best players and top scorers to graduation. Plus at least 5 other backups have left and transferred. And Head Coach Chris Collins' recruiting class is not among the better recruiting classes in the Big Ten. It will be difficult to avoid another losing season, and perhaps another last place finish. -

Pittsburgh finished the 2018-19 season 14-19, and 3-15 in the ACC, good for a tie for last place with Notre Dame. Because Kevin Stallings left the program in 2018 with only a modest amount of talent, new Head Coach Jeff Capel had to rebuild. Plus, of the Stallings' players who stayed, 4 of them left the team during the season and announced they were transferring. Plus they lose 2 seniors (the 2nd and 5th leading scorers). 3 of the top 4 scorers were freshmen, so they return some good players next season, and should be improved. Plus Caple has several fairly highly rated recruits in his 2019 recruiting class. So they could be a tough match if Bradley gets them.

one of Pitt's incoming freshmen in the fall is Karim Coulibaly who was a teammate last year of Ari Boya at Scotland Prep

Here's their team picture with Ari on the left in back - the tallest guy
and Coulibaly is the 3rd tallest guy in the back on the right side
Tyrone Nesby (Wagner) and Koreem Ozier (averaged 14 ppg/5 rpg in his freshman year at Sacred Heart) are a couple of the other kids who went DI

The Gulf Coast Showcase will take place on the same days as the Ft. Myers Tip-Off, and the games will be played at the Hertz Arena in Estero, FL (formerly the Germain Arena), just a few miles away from the Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida Southwestern College where the Ft. Myers Tip-off will be played.

bloggingthebracket.com has BU and the other three participants as "host teams." I'm assuming this means there will be four other teams that will travel among the hosts to give the hosts four games for this tournament.

There will be four traveling teams but they won't be making the trip to Ft. Myers (unlike in Cancun when they had their own separate neutral tournament).

Last year Niagara and Grambling went to host teams Loyola and Wyoming; St. Francis and IUPUI went to host teams Boston College and Richmond. Then the host teams met in Ft. Myers for the bracketed games.

Being in a MTE (multi team exempt) tournament means that you can play four games for the price of 2. So officially all these games are considered part of the tournament and all the teams get 31 games instead of 29.

Now all 10 MVC teams are known to be in early season tournaments.
In addition to the info in post #7 above from a few weeks ago, Drake is playing in the Gulf Coast Showcase November 25 - 27 in Estero, Florida
http://gulfcoastshowcase.com/2019/05...rnament-teams/

...and today, it was revealed that Southern Illinois will participate in a new tournament, The Sunshine Slam, November 8-10 in Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida. It is projected to be an 8-team tournament and SIU is the only team known so far. Even their website does not list any teams-
http://www.sunshineslam.com/
http://www.sunshineslam.com/uncategorized/2019-debut/

It is organized by The Gazelle Group, the same group behind the CBI and several other men's and women's tournaments (Empire Classic, Legends Classic, Gotham Classic)

According to D1 schedule aggregator TheD1Docket there will be a separate division of the Ft. Myers Tipoff this year, kind of like what the Cancun Challenge has with the Riviera (host teams) and Mayan (traveling).

The traveling teams known so far are: Cal State Bakersfield, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Arkansas-Pine Bluff and San Francisco. There should be 1-3 more, and Bradley should be hosting 2 of these teams as part of the Tipoff. San Francisco finished 74 in the NET last year and would be a nice draw.

Kansas State, one of BU's potential opponents in the Fort Myers tourney, released its non-conference schedule today. It shows Arkansas-Pine Bluff as one of its home tournament opponents. It should get one more. UAPB is one of the Hilo Classic visiting teams. Strange that the tourney is in Florida but the lower level teams are playing in something named for one of the Hawaiian islands. I wonder if they will be playing their part of the tourney in Hawaii.

Here is an update on the Fort Myers Tip-Off Tournament that Bradley is participating in on Monday, November 25 & Wednesday, Nov. 27.
We have known for months that the 4 main teams are Bradley, Kansas State, Northwestern, and Pitt
https://www.news-press.com/story/spo...ff/2077408002/

Apparently, there will be "travelling teams" that will play road games at each of the 4 main teams, meaning Bradley could get one or two home games from this tournament. Those teams and details about which ones will play at Bradley are not known yet.

The venue is the Suncoast Credit Union Arena, on the campus of Florida Southwestern State College, 13351 FSW Pkwy, Fort Myers, FL 33919-
https://www.fortmyerstipoff.com/sunc...t_Credit_Arena

Tickets for the 2 nights are not going to be available until September, except through travel packages-

Travel packages (which include tickets) are available through the tournament website-

The hotel options include Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort and Spa and Westin Cape Coral Resort and Spa serving as the primary host hotels, plus the Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina.

Note that the Bradley team hotel will be the Westin Cape Coral Resort and Spa.

I find it really hard to believe the visiting teams will all fly to Hawaii, but I have to say I am perplexed why they call it the "Hilo division." That release does confirm though that Monmouth will be another one of the visiting teams in the Ft. Myers Tipoff. They were not so good, finishing #289 in the NET last year.

  • The games against Monmouth and Arkansas-Pine Bluff are part of the Fort Myers Tipoff… The Wildcats are a combined 5-0 against both schools, including 1-0 vs. Monmouth and 4-0 vs. UAPB.

The address given for Suncoast arena in incorrect I do not have the correct address but it is at the corner of Cypress Lake and Summerlin on the SWF college campus. There are other hotels closer to the arena than Westin in Cape Coral and much less expensive. I will try to get mo info and post.
nomonoles,

I'm more interested in being close to the beach than the arena! It's Pink Shell and a rental car for me.
