Bradley in the Fort Myers Tip-off tournament, Nov. 25 & 27, 2019

The address given for Suncoast arena in incorrect I do not have the correct address but it is at the corner of Cypress Lake and Summerlin on the SWF college campus. There are other hotels closer to the arena than Westin in Cape Coral and much less expensive. I will try to get mo info and post.
nomonoles,

Thanks.

The address we listed, 13351 FSW Parkway is the official address of the arena-

Here are the directions-

You are correct that it lies at the Northwest corner of Cypress Lake Dr. and Summerlin Rd. But you cannot enter the arena parking lots from either of those main roads. You have to turn onto FSW Parkway first (zoom in on the map in above link).

good find 64!
..the tourney organizers probably gave them Northwestern to go with Bradley so
as to favor economy on their road trip.

They do later play SIU & Loyola - hopefully their NET will be Top 150 - but their conference schedule rules against that

Norfolk State's release also sheds some light on the tournament format, and mentions Radford as another Hilo Division team.

It would appear Monmouth, San Francisco and Cal State Bakersfield are all going to be hosting the other teams in that division while the featured games are being played in Ft. Myers.

HILO DIVISION
Cal State Bakersfield
Sam Houston State
Stephen F. Austin
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
San Francisco
Monmouth
Radford
Norfolk State

I'm done trying to figure out this format. I just know we should expect to get another home game from that list of teams. And if Northwestern releases their schedule, we could probably learn what that team is.

Actually, I'd put odds on us getting Radford. They're right nearby Norfolk State, and it would make sense for both to partner together in travelling to Illinois and swing by NW and Bradley back to back.

could be, but why would they travel together with Norfolk State if they are going to different destinations - because surely they wouldn't both travel to Peoria then swing up to Evanston together?

But we still might get Radford......Here's my guess - since Bradley & Northwestern are among the four top teams in the tourney - they would likely get some kind of decision-making or veto-choice over what opponents they get. Thus it's likely our opponents will be two of the teams with the better NET's from last year...
The only ones with NET's much better than Norfolk State are Radford, Sam Houston State, Bakersfield or San Francisco.
The travel costs might make Radford or Sam Houston State a little more likely than the California teams, but if Bakersfield or
San Francisco do play any of the top four teams, then only K-State is any closer. I guess we'll know soon enough.

For example Radford and Norfolk State could meet at the Norfolk airport, fly to Peoria (or Chicago/Evanston) on a shared charter plane, share a charter bus to the hotel (say, the Pere Marquette), and the team that needs to travel the 3 hours then can use the charter bus to do so while the other stays in town and plays the team there. Then the travelling team comes back the next day on that charter bus, and the other team then uses that charter bus to go to the other city and back. After the second games you share another charter flight back to Norfolk.

What did you accomplish? You shared the expenses of a charter plane, you shared the expenses of a charter bus, and you probably got a deal on whatever hotel you stayed at because you got a larger block of rooms. Not guaranteeing it but it makes economical sense.

ok - could make sense...we just need the tourney people to issue a few more details when they get it all worked out

I checked Nw roster from page 1 (thanks coach) and they do not look very scary, what do we know about recruits, or how can I find out?

I don't think they will be terrible, but I don't see where they will be much better than last year.
They lose their top 3 players - all starters (Law, Pardon, Taylor) plus a couple subs
...so in reality, they enter 2019-20 without a proven scorer...so they need to develop some guys...

Northwestern's incoming recruits are:
Daniel Buie- 3-Star
Robbie Beran- ranked 106 nationally and rated 4-Star by some
Jared Jones- 3-Star
Chase Audige - a transfer from William & Mary who will likely sit out unless he gets a last minute waiver

and they have a lacrosse star who is transferring to Northwestern to play basketball- https://www.uslaxmagazine.com/colleg...t-northwestern

We've talked about Northwestern many times over the years....

They obviously have a good coach but they still struggle to land complete, multi-talented players.
They really haven't had a multi-talented kid since Drew Crawford...

Their scorers often play soft defense...but they were dead last in the B-10 in offense & scoring
Their big men can rebound but don't do a lot of scoring
and they haven't had a decent point guard since Bryant McIntosh
...who, btw they kinda stole from an MVC team...

But actually almost everyone they land are kids that the MVC teams are recruiting too.
So we will be catching them with very little returning firepower and/or experience, so we should have a great chance to pick up a win

I was hoping for NW. They should be picked near the bottom of the B1G but it's still a nice statement game. Kansas State is the big fish in this tournament and best SOS help and it would be cool to play them for the title.

Trivia:

-Name the last player drafted in the NBA Draft out of Northwestern?
-Who is Northwestern's all time leading scorer, when did he play there and was he drafted?
-How many winning seasons has Northwestern had in the Big Ten in the last 50 years?

Here are the answers - mouse over to read...

-Evan Eschmeyer was drafted in the 2nd round in 1999 and played parts of 4 seasons in the NBA, scoring 421 career points- they have not had a player drafted in the past 20 years.
-John Shurna played at Northwestern from 2008-12 but went undrafted and played overseas. He scored 2,038 points in 4 years at Northwestern.
-Answer: one. Northwestern had an 8-6 season in the Big Ten in 1967-68, then they did not have another winning season in the conference until going 10-8 in 2016-17 for their ONLY conference winning record in the past 50 years.

It's interesting that Drake will be playing 13 miles away from where Bradley's playing at the same time. If you really want to get your fill of basketball you could see Drake at 1:30 on Monday and then head to Suncoast Arena for the 2 Ft Myers games. (We don't know the BU/NW game time but last year the games were at 5 and 7:30) Then Drake plays Tuesday at either 11am or 5pm (Bradley's off). Wednesday Drake could play about anytime but it seems they'd have to be in the consolation side to have any chance of no overlap. Or just chill at the beach.

Game times for the November 25 games (the first day of the Fort Myers Tip-Off) were released- Bradley will play Northwestern in the second game of the night at 7:30 central time (8:30 Eastern time for those going to Fort Myers).-

Monday, November 25, 2019-
Pitt vs. Kansas State at 5:00 PM Central (6:00 PM Eastern)

Northwestern vs. Bradley at 7:30 PM Central (8:30 PM Eastern)

Those fans going to Fort Myers will be able to lounge around the beach and watch the sunset, then head over to the Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College for the game. :)

I've got a single extra ticket for Monday's (11/25) Semi-Final game against Northwestern and Tuesday's (11/26) Final Round game against Kansas State/Pitt.

Section 107
Row H
Seat 11

From what I can tell based up online pictures of the Suncoast Credit Union Arena - these look to be pretty close to center court.

Please feel free to contact me if you'd be interested in purchasing them.

I'm hoping to get what my wife paid for them ($130 for both games)

Go BU !!!!

Has anyone heard about a hospitality room or a meet and greet

I haven't heard a thing. Sadly, Bradley doesn't do any trip arranging or BU Charters any more, so who knows if they'll have a Bradley hospitality room. If there was, they would have made arrangements by now. Has anyone heard?
