Thank you ! Many fans were anxiously waiting for an opportunity to see the team & the new players!!

It is billed as a SEASON TICKET HOLDER EVENT - only season ticket holders.

Starts at 5:30pm on Friday Oct. 13th.

But, you must contact the BU ticket office in order to attend.


Season Ticket Holder Open Practice Set for Oct. 13

A special season-ticket holder event for the Bradley men's basketball program is set for Friday,
October 13 at Renaissance Coliseum.

The exclusive event for BU season-ticket holders begins at 5:30 with an open practice.
During the practice, Coach Wardle will be mic'd up so fans in attendance can hear
his interaction and instruction with the team.

A meet-and-greet with players and coaches will follow the hour-long practice as well as a Q-and-A
with Coach Wardle. Complimentary soft drinks and snacks will also be available during the event
on the concourse area in Renaissance Coliseum.

The event is open to all season ticket holders. Fans interested in attending should RSVP by Monday, Oct. 9
by contacting the Bradley Ticket Office via email at [email protected] or via phone at (309) 677-2625.
The number of guests attending the event cannot exceed the number of season tickets for each individual account.

Sorry I have to say this is B-LL S-IT to only make this available to season ticket holders. I have been a season ticket holder since 1965 excluding about 12 years when I was officiating HS games. Six years ago I started going South in the winter after Christmas returning in mid Feb for a family birthday. I have bought individual game tickets for all the games in Nov. Dec and Feb when we were in town. To not make this open to the general public is just plain wrong. IMO
 
I recently had an interaction with a leader in Bradley's ticketing function regarding changes to the discount offers that have traditionally been made to employees of local businesses such as Cat, etc. Specifically, they've chosen to restrict the offer to include about half (but no longer all) home games.

The rationale is that they're realizing that season ticket holders are their financial lifeblood, and any discount offers that dilute the urgency to buy an official season ticket are going to fade off. Obviously they've lost quite a few season ticket holders in recent years.

Offering other events and perks restricted to season ticket holders is another way to bolster demand for such. I get it.

If that is where they are at right now, I guess I will support what they're trying to do.

There were two different times during those live chats that have been done - one with Michael Cross and one with Coach Wardle...
that one of the questioners tried to box in Cross & Wardle with a question that went something like this...

"Don't you think that the average fan who sits in the nosebleed section is just as important and has just as much value to the program as the high rollers who sit in the premium seats?"

In both cases the answer was pretty much as expected and went something like this...

"of course we want to appeal to all fans, but...
the lifeblood of this program are our season ticket holders and lifetime fans & alumni who support the program well beyond just their ticket prices".


It certainly is NOT intended to be an affront to some fans just because they try to do special things for other fans..
I don't get bothered at a Chief's game just because someone's sitting in a luxury suite... and likewise if someone wants to bid & buy the rights to sit on the bench at a game - I don't begrudge them that I don't get to do it. Bradley has been pretty bad the past several years and winning has been scarce - not to mention pretty terrible press coverage and some unfair and misinformed attacks by some. It's gonna be hard to build the fan base back up but I remain firmly convinced we have the right people there to do it!

There are some who think that the season ticket buyers do deserve a few perks - don't you think that's reasonable?

Note that the Red-White scrimmage is open to everyone and is just a few days later

I do think there is middle ground here that could be used. There are so many seats in the RC and "x" number of season tickets. What would be wrong with setting a season ticket holder deadline to purchase than opening it up for the rest of us. If season ticket holders cover the seating than so be it.

If the season ticket holders felt that their experience was being watered down, they might not be as willing to fork out the "big bucks" to be a season ticket holder and to support the Braves Club.

We have to remember, season ticket holders are truly the driving force behind our continuing success and within the arms race that is Division 1 athletics.

I'd be willing to pay to go see it, as sadly I did not get season tickets this year. Even tho I attend every home game I havnt been able to convince any of my friends to buy season tix with me. So I just buy tix to every game, allows me to move around the arena some.
 
but if they charge admission just for a practice - then I am sure there'd be people criticizing that, too
..
A whole lot of schools NEVER open up practices to the public because they use that time to work on plays, offensive sets & defenses, etc...and they call out those plays by name, yielding valuable info that future opponents can use against us...

I think just maybe by limiting it to season ticket holders who have to call and sign up by name, then they don't have to worry about staff from future opponents being there to scout.

Just 24 hours now and we get to see 1st hand what we've all been waiting for...
hopefully a bunch of season ticket holders will share their observations since we are not getting much at all from any other sources....
 
Bradley open practice thoughts
Barker has been working on his shooting. Looks thinner and more mobile. It makes me wonder if they're going to use him differently this year.
I wish we had one more center.
Stipanovich looks like a promising freshman. Good frame and athletic.
Elijah Childs looks explosive and potentially ahead of this years.
I still can't tell who the floor leaders truly are.
The 120 points in 2:30 drill was a lot of fun to watch, and to hear the communication.
Coach Wardle garners a lot of respect from the players.
I think it's safe to say that Kennell and van Bree are going to rain a lot of 3's.
I can't get much of a read on Lundy.
We practice free throws!
It looks like we are recruiting some really good quality freshman, which is promising.overall very organized practice and a lot of hard work going on.
 
I think everyone was impressed in the first hour but then when we scrimmaged - a few disappointing stretches with fouls & turnovers and head-down dribbling against the defense..

but overall - I think every player is improved (some more than others) and I think we win more than we lose
