Bradley MBB TV Coverage

So look for a fewer number of TV games to make it on local cable on a channel that has not previously done BU broadcasts. :)

As we previously reported, the TV broadcast crew will be totally different than the last few years.

And the news is finally out that Chad Kleine will be the new radio color guy with Dave Snell. Danny Adams is no longer on the radio, but might he still be an option for the new TV crew?

Since their will be very few games on TV, does anyone know if we are able to watch the live stream on our smart phones? I know you can watch online with a PC or laptop but how was it on your phone? I'll probably have to watch quite a few while at work since i'll be on some evenings now.

I'm not surprised by this at all. WEEK figured out years ago that you can't make money broadcasting these games. Let alone the fact that the consumer now has much higher expectations for the quality of the presentation.

If I were closer to Peoria, I would check out the 4-pack if I didn't have season tix.
Sounds like a good deal, and includes the home opener and 3 games that should be superb!

The WTVP deal fell through quite a while ago, and Bradley has been working hard to put together a TV deal with some other local TV outlet. It won't be any of the TV stations with major network affiliations, since they are not able to preempt network programming which makes too much money for those stations.
With the void created by the NHL labor strife, some thought there might be a chance to get more college games on Comcast. Bradley did have a deal with Comcast that had games on the big cable network a few years ago. But it doesn't seem likely to happen this year.
It's being reported that one of the leading options might be My 59. I am also hearing more about who the new broadcasting team will bbe.

Bradley just posted this release about Chad Kleine joining Dave Snell on WMBD radio-

I am also hearing that Dave Snell may return to the sports-talk radio format this season. Let's hope so!

I would be happy with My59. They have simulcast a lot of Chicago sports (Bulls, Cubs) . before the BTN, they were the main Illini outlet locally.
It's still a local channel available to every one. With 13 digital sub-channels in the area, there should be one that can broadcast the Braves.

The problem isn't where to air the games, it's the cost of producing them. My59 doesn't produce Bulls, Cubs, Sox, or Illini games. They were simply taking an affiliate feed. I would venture a guess that producing a Bradley game probably runs somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000 per game.

True, production is different than simulcast. (Although its disappointing when my $300 point and shoot camera has higher video quality)

I was just pointing out that sports is not an unusual category for my59

Yes, it's a lot easier and less expensive option to simply pick up another station's video feed and broadcast your own audio over it.
But the discriminating fan will notice that, won't they? :)

Anything new on the broadcast schedule? Regular season games start 2 weeks from this Friday.

No official word from Bradley. I would expect something soon. There are few reports that have leaked out, so if you want to PM me, I can tell you what some people are reporting and what I have heard, but it is not for official publication.

...Danny Adams is no longer on the radio, but might he still be an option for the new TV crew?

I sure hope so - Danny has done a ton for BU, and continues to be a great ambassador for Bradley basketball in our area --
and... he may not be the most polished or experienced broadcaster - but he's worked hard to make himself better and many I have talked to enjoyed his input.......
..and I do cross paths every now and then with Danny in the line of work he's currently in - and the comment in the press about Danny as if he walked away from the opportunity to be involved again this year - is a bit less than fully accurate...

I think in this case, no news is bad news.

Too bad. I know I won't be buying the online streaming, tried it a few years ago and vowed never to waste money on that again.

It's tough for those of us that can't make it to games because of balancing work/life. Having the games on TV in the past made it nice for us to keep up with the team. If there's no TV package, many people lose interest, which could equate to less future ticket sales, which leads to less interest. If the team has another mediocre year like last, all this can add up to bad news for BU Admin. Just my 2 cents, FWIW.

I never read anything along those lines. It just sounded like Danny is a normal guy with a normal job, and that usually means a normal guy cannot travel to every away game. So unless the radio job becomes a 6 figure gig ;) I fully understand Danny's desire to support his family.
This may be another area where not having a football team hurts us. I think I hear the same radio team on Illini basketball and football broadcasts.

It isn't because Bradley doesn't want their games on television. Fact of the matter is, if a television station can't make money broadcasting these games, then they aren't going to make it on TV.

But Bradley has had 12-15 games a year on local TV, every year for as long as I can remember, even when there were only 3 or 4 local stations. Now there are 2 or 3 times that many. I think that is what is going to be hard to convince fans- that this is just a sudden problem this year.
