Bradley recruit- 2007 juco Charlie Coley

ESPN reports indicate the Charlotte coach (Bob Lutz) is now the leading candidate at South Alabama which would seem to give us an edge with Coley...but we don't seem to have a scholarship ??

That seems like kind of a step down, doesn't it?

And yes, if there's a coaching change, that would make us the leaders for Coley.

Isn't Louisville also in the mix for Coley?

This scenario is eerily similar to last year, when Sikes appeared to be a lock for BU, and then went to Cincy. Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself.....

Coley is visiting Charlotte the week he was supposed to visit Louisville, so it seems as if they're out of the picture.

I agree, some things are similar to Sikes, but we aren't as desperate for Coley as we were for Sikes. Coley is icing on the cake. Sikes was a necessity that didn't come to fruition. I think with David Collins on campus, who just chose BU over Charlotte, the full-court press is going to be on Coley to follow in his footsteps. Unfortunately, that probably means the end of DeAaron Williams or one of our current players at BU if that comes true.

I know he is supposed to be visiting today(The 13nth) I was wondering if anyone knows if he is here for the weekend, or just the 13nth?

Anyone seen any of these recruits this weekend and if Coley leaves without signing does anyone else consider it to be a sign that he will be going elsewhere?

is this guy a cellus like player?

More like DeAaron Williams type than a Cellus.

The liklihood of signing him drops off greatly if he doesn't commit here.

you told us to keep you updated on Coley. We just received his LOI. Took a while there was some sort of delay with his mother having to look over the forms. The LOI is in now. So he will be a 49er in the fall.

i hope to see that outcome too. Charlotte 49er fans would go crazy.

Some other information on Coley's decision other than the fact that it was closer to home than bradley.

He and our senior sg Leemire goldwire are great friends. They played against each other in high school. So that also might have played into his decision to choose charlotte.

hey guys. just wanted to give you an update. we expect to see him for the first time in the summer league games our guys usually participate in. It's more of a laid back league. hosted by NBA player Jeff McGinnis (former tarheel and current member of the bobcats). I'll let you guys know about how good he is or isn't when I see him play.

hope everything is going well with the braves on the recruiting front. good luck next season.

Charlie Coley has already started to impress people at Charlotte.

Here are a few articles referring to Coley's jumping ability.
Jim Les obviously could see the athleticism and potential that Charlie Coley had.--

Here are the dunks he performed at their basketball madness--

And finally- here is an NBA site that evaluates Coley's attributes for the NBA draft. His athleticism is rated a 10 out of 10--

Charlotte fan here. Yep, we're really happy to have him.

I found your site when Charlotte & Bradley were both recruiting David Collins - I'm still saddened that he committed to your school just prior to taking his scheduled visit. :( But Bradley recruited him longer and I hope it turns out he picked a good school with BU.

It looks like we're butting heads once again: http://charlotte.scout.com/a.z?s=428&p=8&c=1&nid=3397119 Thought I'd stop by to see if there was a recruiting thread when I saw this one. Surprising to see Bradley recruiting in the Carolinas.

And as far as Coley goes...if it makes you feel any better, Charlotte put a lot of effort into signing two Palm Beach, Fl recruits several years ago: Alonzo Gee and Leemire Goldwire. Gee, of course, is a star for Alabama - but at one point he looked primed to sign with Charlotte. Goldwire is our star and he's as good as they get - on and off the court.

Charlie Coley was not widely known when Charlotte was scouting around in his hometown - but a relationship was established with him and HC Bobby Lutz. After he blew up in juco - no doubt, Lutz had an edge as a familiar face. Although Coley is still rough-around-the-edges in some aspects - everybody seems really happy to have him.

Good luck this year and hope to see you in the tournament!

I noticed that this morning, too. I don't know what it means, and don't know if Bradley is still in on him.

I think that Scout.com list might be just the players that have been offered and are not committed elsewhere, and Odom isn't listed there--
http://bradley.scout.com/a.z?s=455&p=9&cfg=bb&c=4&yr=2008

This is a more complete list (still Scout.com) of all prospects that Bradley has been linked to, and it includes Odom--
http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=7...RecruitVisitFlag=-1&OrderbyColumn=RatingValue

I do not think he has committed anywhere yet.
