bradley vs eastern

Those 24 games are just delaying the inevitable. This type of play is becoming a definition of a Jim les coached team. His message, his teams effort and the enthusiasm for Bradley basketball has all become dull boring and stale. Unless he has a miracle in his 4 guard offense, early march will end his tenure.

Maybe it is inevitable, but in my world he has earned the right to finish the season and be judged on his body of work. Sure, all signs point to another muddling season, but to me it makes decisions easier when you have the whole body of work rather than just speculating. It's a results-based business, let's wait until we have the final results and go from there.

Oh I don't think he gets fired Friday or anytime between now and the NBC tourney, but he has lost control of his team, the program has lost interest, but worst is I think his players are tuning his message out. Like o said earlier this feels just like mo's last year. I am 40 followed bu for as long as I can remember and my overall interest level is pretty much at the whatever point. I can't imagine how little the casual person in Peoria doesn't care.

Just got back home, had my 6 yr old with me and I'm glad he was with me. Kept me from really losing my cool. He was disappointed we lost, but thrilled that I took him, and hummed "swing march" and the fight song all the way home. Reminded me of why I still subject myself to rooting for BU, no matter what the outcome. That being said......

Now it's time to blow off steam. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?!?!??!?!?!?! 23 TO's against a zone??!?!??! Seriously? You could make an in game adjustment against a soft 2-3 zone?!?!?!? Hang on to the ball!!!!!! Sammy, what happened brother? I love ya man but wow that was brutal. But worse yet, where were your teammates to pick you up?!?!?!?

Losing to EIU at home.......what an abomination.

I agree there. There's no point in firing mid season in college sports. In pro sports you still might be able to turn a team around under a new coach. But with high player turnover in college sports, there's really no poing in firing a coach mid-season.

But you can bet big time that another .500 season will not help Les's cause.

The only way JL should be let go in season, is if he gets caught kanoodling with JG... ;-);-)

Seriously, as BB says, the season is just starting. Let the season play out....and hope for the best. Look at the SF Giants this year, 10 out with less than a month to go....and they end up winning the WS!

When the season is over, make a decision....and then have a careful open consultation with incoming recruits.....

BU can't afford to eat JL's contract..

I thought this was the last year on his contract???? or is there a few more years on there??? If the university goes in a different direction they've got to spend the money to get a big time assistant? There's still time to get something going, so I'm not writing the year off....

Go Braves!!!

I'm sure there's a buyout clause. Doesn't mean we want to or can afford to pay it at season's end.

I really hope the best for the season, but even if we should win the MVC Tourney and go to the Elite 8 this year, JL should STILL be fired. 9 Years without a championship. Mediocre middle-of-the-pack finishes, OWNING the 4-5 game, and little changes made AROUND his players. ALL of this AND MORE is worthy of REMOVAL! Sure, maybe you get lucky every once in a while (Sweet 16 run, but you had a future NBA PLAYER for Christ sake!), but it's never going to be consistent! Now, maybe I'm going off on a rant with this, but I would compare it to Dunga of Brazil. The country loved him because he was a good player, so when they needed a new manager, they hired Dunga to lead the national team to the World Cup. And what happened in the final tournament? Brazil had one of its worst finishes EVER, wasting A LOT of talent. So, what did Brazil do IMMEDIATELY after the World Cup? FIRE HIM! Just because you are a good player does not meant you will be a good COACH! Jim Les is WASTING TALENT! I am really thinking about having my Grandpa buy me something other than the Valley Season Tickets for Christmas this year. :p

Agree.. Like it or not, the economics of the situation dictate that JL will be back next year.

I don't think that's a foregone conclusion just yet. If you weigh the drop in season tickets, maintenance fees, and overall attendance, a buyout likely ends up being a wash.

All true, but I think a buyout, if it happens, will be after next year when the numbers will be more favorable towards BU.

This is why I fear what will happen if a change is made at the top of the basketball program. I have less faith in the decision makers to make the right hire than I did 9 years ago.

+1

I don't have to like it and my season tickets will not be back either. They won't miss me but I'll find something better to if if Jim's back and I bet I won't be alone.

It is what it is and btw the melt down is not as bad as I thought it would be! :-o

What I see is a sports program that is not concerned about the details. A great program has great leaders that demand the best. Somehow or another we are not doing that. Did anyone question and ask how many games in a short period of time is too many? Someone needs to take the program and completely evaluate it because these types of games should never play out like they did.

On another note I could not get into my B.tv account and watch the game. Anyone else have that problem. I was probably better off listening to Snell anyway.

I know we're all frustrated with what happened last night, and some believe that Les should be let go at the end of the season. But don't be posting the same thing 50 times! That's irritating! We get your point.

IMO it's no different than seeing the same signature for many posters, me included, everytime they post. After the 4 games I've seen this season, even though only 1 loss, my song is "I've got to get out of this place."

Well I'm not saying whether I agree or disagree with that post. I just don't like people spamming the same post over and over again on different threads, that's all. That's a pet peeve of mine and I only need to read the post one time to get the message. But my gripe had nothing to do with the content of that post. Hope that explains things. :)

I think you and I are very much on the same page. I am not in love with JL, by any means, but after thinking about the alternative I'm not sure giving him more time isn't the best option. But I agree with many on here. We need to let this season play itself out. Nothing gained in getting rid of a coach mid-season, nor making up our mind mid-season.

Exactly. Program suicide IMO. While I don't have a lot of confidence in university leadership, I can't see them making an irrational decision like this.

Why would you fire anyone who wins the MVC Tourney or makes the Elite 8??? So they struggle during the regular season. Winning the MVC Tourney and/or making a run in the NCAA Tournament shows me that the coach has his team ready to play and peaking at the right time. So letting go of a coach after those type of accomplishments would make absolutely no sense, at least not to me!
