Their leading returning scorer from last year and their starting point guard, Tony Freeman, is out because of a fractured bone in his foot. He is not projected to play until sometime in December, so will be out for the games in South Padre Island.

Have a safe trip DC. Look forward to a full report on here and 1350.

Something to think about.... whenever Bradley plays a BCS school, we get some visitors at this message board from the opponent. I hope we all show them respect and decency... and I hope we get the same treatment in return.

Go Braves!!!

Thanks, MM!

I'll be leaving tomorrow AM for the long trip to South Padre Island. I hear there are a few fans going from Peoria, but there is also a contingent leaving from Indianapolis, and a some from Chicago. I hope everyone has a safe trip.

Bradley and Iowa now have two common opponents, as Iowa played against Maryland-Eastern Shore last night.

Recall Bradley played UMES on Sunday, and BU blew out to a 25 point halftime lead, cruising easily to a lopsided win.
(Iowa also struggled vs. FGCU and won 62-49)

Not at Iowa last night.

UMES hung close pretty much the entire game.
UMES scored the first 7 points, but Iowa caught up and only led by 3 at half, 21-18, as both teams struggled to score.
UMES was within 6 points until just 3 minutes left, when a Justin Johnson 3-pointer gave Iowa a 9 point lead...and Iowa didn't take a double digit lead until the final minute. The final minute was nothing but foul shots that stretched the final score to 65-48, but it was a little closer than the final score suggests, and lots of Iowa fans are making excuses like
"we were just looking past them and forward to Bradley"

One guy on their message board said this:
"Bradley has a squad this year, I am not looking forward to that game."

It looks like Iowa has been playing defense so far. No one has gotten 50 yet. Here's the shooting % posted on one of the Iowa boards:

UMES (28%)
FGCU (38%)
UNC (36%)
ISU (33%)

It looks like tempo will be a key to the game.

I think Bradley is one of those teams that no one can look past. Major conference teams should and will see us as a threat to upset

it's rhyme time

BU really needs to win this game. I may be wrong, but I don't think Iowa is going to have a very good year this year, and a loss here could really hurt BU as far as fodder for the selection committee. Big 10 or not, this is a team that BU should beat right now. They do play good D, but have trouble scoring. If BU can turn up the pressure defensively and rebound well, I think we can muster enough offense to win this one. And we better not dig a hole for ourselves early, as I think Iowa would be a tough to play against from behind, we need to get off early and play with intensity for 40 minutes.

and keep the turnovers way down!

Hey, that's a good excuse. Maybe we've been looking ahead to Iowa. Sounded good on the radio this morning coach.

This game is very important as we need to win these types of games to get our confidence going and to show that we are capable of beating big ten teams on a neutral floor; I believe this game will have a huge impact on us come selection sunday.

The only way this game has a huge impact on us during Selection Sunday is if we lose the game...
Iowa is NOT good this year...they will likely be battling it out with Penn State and Northwestern in the bottom 2 or 3 of the Big Ten...
So, while any win is a big win...a win over Iowa will not be something that helps us in the eyes of the NCAA Selection Committee.

I think a win would help us out recruiting and getting the casual fan to the remaining non-conference games. Iowa basketball is not where they traditionally are and BU has to take advantage of that.

Correct me if I am wrong, but we haven't beaten a Big 10 team in 9 years (Penn St at home in '98-'99). It's time to end that streak.

Thanks, MM!

I'll be getting into SPI on Friday morning.....the other 3 amigos are arriving at different times tomorrow.

DC.....PM your cell# so we can connect with you while we are there.

When did Bradley beat Michigan?

Dec 8th, 1997.

Famous quote by WEEK tv announce in closing moments (something like....) "Well, you know Michigan isn't gonna be any good this year...."

They then went on to beat #1 Duke in their very next game and later I think they won the B10 Conf Trny that year.

And people wonder why Bradley fans didn't like the WEEK announcer (who is an ISU alum).

BU - Iowa

BU - Iowa

As has been stated, BU needs to take care of business on Friday. As an Iowa boy, I grow tired of hearing all the hype/excuses about the Hawkeyes. Bradley is way more talented and, if under control, a far superior ball club than the boys from Iowa City.

The other night, I heard an ESPN broadcaster talking about how the MVC is going to be down this year as so many key performers were lost and new coaches joined the league. All he could talk about was SIU and Creighton. It's time for BU to show the nation that we are not a "status quo" team, but will be your 2007-08 MVC champs.

Maybe I'm being selfish but it sure would be nice if BU took down all 4 of Iowa's D-I programs in the season and became the Mythical State Champs of Iowa.
