The Bradley women's team opens the 2019-20 season at Oakland Friday, Nov. 8, at 6 pm (Central)-

This is also the first game for Oakland.

Oakland was 6-24 last year and lost a couple of their top players, but added several transfers. They were picked to finish 8th out of 10 Horizon League teams. Bradley played Oakland in Peoria last season and the Braves won 73-64 in a game that freshman Lasha Petree scored 29 points, and was 5-8 from three, and Chelsea Brackmann had 17 points and 17 rebounds-

Go Braves!

The Bradley women lead just 26-23 at halftime in what looked like a defensive battle. But then they shot 65% in the 3rd quarter and pulled away with 48 points in the 2nd half- Final score Bradley 74 Oakland 58

Lasha Petree, playing in front of a lot of family and friends in her hometown area, lead Bradley with 20 points.

DC-There are a lot of Michigan folks that would not take kindly to confusing Michigan and Michigan State. BU Women played Michigan today.

I beg their pardon....:) I happen to know some of those Michiganders.
I knew that and even posted the stats from the Michigan website. But it's not the first time I've gotten them mixed up.

Bradley women win again! They improve to 5-1 with a 61-59 win over George Mason in the Coastal Carolina Thanksgiving Tournament in Conway, SC.

Bradley's shooting was sub-par (36% overall and 23% from three), but their defense (held GMU to 35% & 25% from three) and rebounding (outrebounded GMU 54-39) were strong. They have another game Sunday 10:30 am Central against Richmond. Richmond is 5-2 and defeated the host school Coastal Carolina today 79-67.

The Bradley women beat Richmond today 61-57 in the Coastal Carolina Thanksgiving Classic.-

They finish 2-0 with wins over George Mason and Richmond, and they improved to 6-1 overall.
Lasha Petree was Bradley's leading scorer with 19, and Chelsea Brackmann had a typical game for her with 17 points & 12 rebounds. Gabi Haack had 13 points, 10 rebounds.

Their next game is Thursday, Dec. 5 at home vs. North Dakota State.

The Bradley women have a 5-game winning streak. They went 2-0 last week with wins over George Mason and Richmond and winning the Coastal Carolina Thanksgiving Tournament. They are 6-1 and their only loss came against #24 ranked Michigan.
They play their next two games at home, including tonight in the Renaissance Coliseum against North Dakota State.
The game can be watched FREE on ESPN3 at 7:00 pm. Get out a see this team! They are exciting to watch. I believe this year's team may be the best women's basketball team Bradley has ever had, and I would not be surprised if they set new records for success. Go Braves!

One other note- Drake women's team is very good, and they were the runaway #1 pick in the MVC preseason poll. They are 7-2 this season and even got a vote in the current AP Top 25 poll. This afternoon they played Waldorf University, a small private NAIA college from Forest City, Iowa.
This was one of the biggest mismatches I have ever seen recently. Drake won the game 103-18 -

It could have been far worse, but Drake played their starters only 14-16 minutes (see box score). I'm not sure I have ever heard of Waldorf University, but I checked their record, and they are used to getting clobbered. They lost 113-40 to Dordt University (a tiny Christian college in Sioux City, IA), and they lost to University of Sioux Falls 104-39, as well as several other huge blowout losses.

I saw this on twitter. What do they accomplish playing such a team?

A serious butt whoopin' and 100 points! WOWZERS!

I kid, of course. That had to be so demoralizing for the opposing team. I would hope whoever set that up for them learns from this and doesn't do it again (ever).

The Drake game today brought in kids from all over the state. They had 7000 for the game.
When I was growing up, Waldorf was a Junior College, it switched over to a University in 1994.
On a side note, Dordt College is located in Sioux Center, Iowa not Sioux City.

Bradley is playing tonight without Chelsea Brackmann. After 3 quarters, Bradley leads 59-50.
Lasha Petree has 30 points after 3 quarters to lead Bradley-
https://bradleybraves.com/sidearmstats/wbball/media

Lasha Petree did not score in the 4th quarter, but Gabi Haack picked up the slack, and the Braves held on to win 70-64. Lasha Petree finishes with 30 points. Gabi Haack had 21 points and 9 rebounds. Tatum Koenig had 10 points and Nyjah White had 9 points. Those were the only 4 players who scored for Bradley. Emily Marsh started in place of Chelsea Brackmann and had 8 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.
https://bradleybraves.com/sidearmstats/wbball/media

6th straight win & the Braves are now 7-1.
