Bradleyfans.com Posters to Student Section

I say that some of us Diehards here at Bradleyfans.com should be given the chance to purchase tickets/ opportunity to sit in the student section when the kids are on break. We could have shirts made and go crazy the entire game.

We don't have a huge student section normally anyway, but the students who do show up are outstanding, and it's really noticeable when they are not at full strength during break.

BU does fill that section during Winter break, but we need people down there that are gonna be vocal and loud, and not just butts in a seat. How many people does it take to fill in the area around the band? I think we could do it.

Anyone with me?

The students will be back on Monday, right?

Will Bradley promote this game hard to them in the short amount of time since most of them probably don't even know that the basketball team is still playing?

I think so. I'm mainly talking about next year during Winter Break.

I didn't see Captain Braves last night. Where is he(or she)? Maybe he can help fill up the Student section by rounding up some more of his fellow students.

The students will be back for the game on Monday. As for how many know we are actually still playing? I have no clue. I have been telling all of my friends that we are still playing and to go to the games but that definitely isn't enough.

The students who were there tried to make up for the lack of depth with additional volume... And several fans who were CLEARLY not students joined us, and they were terrific.

As for next winter, we don't have a student section. We get banished up into the upper deck, so if you can create a situation where it's part student section and part die hard fans right behind the opponent's bench, we'd all be behind you.

That's exactly what should be done, with the students who are here being front and center where they rightfully belong. We've gone over this before, but there is no reason to abolish the student section while BU is on break, it's rediculous.

The problem during break is that there are only about 30-50 students that are townies as well, myself included, that make it to the game. Most of them just accept the situation and go sit in the upper bowl. Ifarania and myself usually try to get down in the student section anyway, but we end being forced to sit down.

That's why I am saying us posters here on Bradleyfans.com should make up the rest of the student section during break. You guys that are here can be up front doing what you do, and we will fill out the rest of the section and stand, be loud, and go nuts. To me this is a better alternative than selling a block of tickets for break, because the people who buy those tickets are people who probably don't go all year long, and they just sit there without any enthusiasm. Plus the regular students get banished to the upper bowl. That makes no sense to me.

But to the University, if it don't make Dollars, it don't make cents. And selling those tickets makes them a buck I guess. I'd be willing to pay to sit there during break though, even though I already have lower bowl season tix.

Edit: I said I'd be willing to sit there during break. I should have said I'd be willing to STAND, JUMP, and GO CRAZY during Break. Just as I'd be willing to STAND at the Field House for the 3rd round of the CBI should we advance Monday.

Yeah I feel like just like we have the friends & alumni band that comes in when the students are on break, we should have the friends & alumni crazy rabid student section wannabes (like myself) for those times. I went to the student section last night (other side of the band from ifarania though) and did my best to be loud... But, anyway, I think a mixed students who can make it and "club" of alums or other rabid fans to substitute during breaks would be great. I would join, and pay for the priviledge.

So let's put something together and make this happen. We can talk about what they should do, but can we get a petition to someone with clout, or get some support for this?

Yeah, agreed Ifarania. I don't have any contacts with the university... but I think we could try to create a "club" for this... Club dues would be designed to make it cash neutral for the university, result in tickets for the club members (and a free shirt or whatever), plus a subsidy for students who liase with the club to ensure the students get their tickets for $1.

I could write an email and send it to a few people, but I'd like to add a number of signatures to it.. I know our president states that she reads every email personally.

I'm not sure if we should send it to her, or to someone like KK or something. Some of the insiders on the board may know?

Sounds like a good idea. It's important that whoever the email goes to realizes that the reasoning behind this is 2 fold.

1. To create an atmoshpere that is supportive and benificial of the team while the majority of the students are away.

2. That the students who are here can continue to support the team and have the opportunity to have a student section close to the band and the court.

I wouldn't want them to think this is just some posters on a message board trying to better their seats at the expense of the University. The students and the team should come first, and I think this idea would benefit both as opposed to the current plan in place.

we should email JGlass. If she supports it (which she probably will) it'll add more clout to our cause with the PCC.

Just an idea...and she does read the emails...but she only gets back to them in a timely fashion if its a simple yes/no thing.

if its challenging or a weird idea...she'll take a while to email back.

we could even invite her to sit front row with us!

I think it really sucks that as a student if I do happen to be in Peoria for a game over break, I dont have a seat anywhere close to the court. At least keep a small area as students only, then give the rest to die hard fans who will give us a true home court advantage while the students are gone.

i am willing to draft up an email if you all would like. Let me know.

I think she has pretty good seats as it is. I think that this is a great idea. As long as the people that sit in the student section are into the games (of which I have no doubt about the posters here) I am all for it.

Jglass would do it for a big game i think...maybe an ISU one? or SIU? or whatever...but i'd put my $ on her making the trip down to the student section
