Bradley's Future

I don't know what the thought is on that at Bradley. Why the frown do you think they are leaving or should?

It could be good or bad if they leave depending on the situation.
 
Wily you are a wise person, but why the constant derision of others' opinions? Why can't people have differing opinions without someone attacking them, mocking them, or denigrating them?

Are you suggesting we have not suffered any fallout from the last big change affecting the basketball program?

If Bradley joined the Catholic League, which Bradley has lobbied to do (and which will never happen), IMO it would be a disaster for Bradley. We would likely never see another winning season in my lifetime.

Even the A-10 would not be a good move, IMO. It seems fair for fans to have concerns about such moves.

I would suggest that! The only fallout we have seen is from losing games, not the change. We are finally heading in a positive direction. Let's keep going.

Well I am fully in favor of continuing in the positive direction, but I have to disagree. In my work, I encounter a lot of fans and have the chance to talk to dozens of current and former season ticket holders over the past months. In case you didn't notice, we have somewhere between 2000-3000 fewer season tickets sold this year than just 3 or 4 years ago. Nearly all of those I have talked to who have dropped their tickets say it has to do with the circumstances surrounding the events of 2011. And the people at Bradley know this, and are working hard to try to bring some of those fans back.
People will believe whatever they want, but 2000+ fewer season tickets and maintenance fees and a comparable dropoff in other donations is major fallout no matter how you look at it, and it is not just due to losing. Bradley has lost before, and never in their history has their been any dropoff in ticket sales and donations like this.
 
I won't argue the fallout with you. We have differing views. But as far as a poster like TLO. If they post about this along with other things going on in basketball. I will let it slide a little more. But I see no value in listening to someone with a agenda. I am not sure if it is even a new poster or someone just screwing around. I just see a poster with a few post saying nothing but Bradley is going down the tubes. I put very little value in their opinion.
 
TLOtrains is not a new poster. He has been a member here almost as long as you have- over 6 years. He reflects concerns that a lot of fans have. Just because they don't post often, doesn't mean their opinions are not worth as much as others.
 
I didn't notice his joined date. I went back and looked at his posts. They are all not negative. So I am thinking of someone else I guess.My mistake.

So back to my original question. What did he have in mind with the post? He heard we are? He wants us to? He doesn't want us to ?
 
I do stand by my feeling that anyone that post only negative stuff. I have no use for. I was wrong on this person. But I personnally don't care to have someone only rip the program with no positive input.

Well we will agree to disagree then.

In my work, and the work of many of my associates, and during my time on this and other message boards I hear from dozens and dozens of fans.

I only know a handful that have anything negative to say about Bradley basketball, this team, this administration, and this coach. Almost all of that negativity or negative talk is found here. We are constantly told that fallout is all around us and the future is bleak. It's tiring.

The people I talk with regularly all love the change in direction that Bradley has taken. Many of them were ready to see a new direction at Bradley and are happy with the small sample we have seen so far. Again, most realize you do not build a program in a month, a season, a year or even two or three.

Most are thrilled with this season. After last year's dismal record, I think many were hoping to see 10 or 12 wins and some improvement. This season has gone well above those hopes.

However, most also realize that next year is not guaranteed to be better. Every year takes hard work, good players, good coaching, and a few breaks. But those I talk to are seeing positive signs and believe the attendance will rebound with the success of the team.

I know many people who canceled season tickets because BU was losing too much, both in Jim's last few seasons and then last year. I know several people who didn't buy season tickets this year, but have then gone and purchased single game tickets after they saw this team play.

Winning will cure most issues. It usually does.

This has always been a favorite quote of mine: "We can always choose to perceive things differently. You can focus on what's wrong in your life, or you can focus on what's right."


What is past is past. We have to accept it and move forward. This is a great University, with quality administrators, professors, athletic programs, coaches, and athletes. Celebrate what's happening now.

It isn't guaranteed to turn out the way we all want. Geno might fail. If he does, he and we will move on. That's the way it goes. If Geno succeeds wildly, he and we will move on too. He will go to a bigger school, and we will hire his successor and once again HOPE it works out!
 
It isn't happening. The C7 will add Butler, Xavier and some combination of SLU, Creighton, Richmond, VCU, and Dayton.

Creighton leaving the MVC would be very bad for the basketball only schools. If this happens, the MVC wheels could fall off. Elgin could decide to add in a football member as a full member. That should be a signal for the basketball only schools to get out ASAP.

Perhaps this leads BU to another mid major conference of basketball only schools in decent sized markets like Drake, Loyola, Detroit, Valparaiso, Dayton, Evansville, etc.

There is a chance the shuffle could be very good for BU or it could be very bad. I trust that Drs. Cross and Glasser have enough contacts to ensure a quality conference home for many years to come.
