Bradley's LC Bowen honored

One of Bradley's all time greats - LC Bowen (known in France as "Randle LC Bowen") - who just turned 70 last week - was recently honored by the French team he played for over 40 years ago...
Bowen - still living in the Benton Harbor, MI area - travelled to France for the honor -
his team won the French National Championship in 1976.

we need to get him to a Bradley game this season!!!
Not quite sure why he is wearing an OHIO STATE hat...(the French article says he was wearing it to the celebration in Touraine, France)

L.C. Bowen...

L.C. Bowen was one of the greatest to ever play at BU, IMO. He was super quick, had a"lights out" quick first step on the drive, could shoot from the perimeter( This was before the 3 pt. shot) and he had great "hops". He and Steve Kubersky tied for the teams leading scorer their Senior year. At 6'-4" L.C. was considered too small for a forward by the NBA. However, in todays game, he would have been a super shooting guard. In any event, he more than proved himself in Europe. I hope we can get L.C. back for a game this year.

L.C. was also an exceptional leaper and was drafted by the Lakers upon his graduation from Bradley. I remember L.C. always had a smile on his face. He really enjoyed playing the game. He's one of the best to wear a Bradley uniform and also in my opinion the best to wear number 42. He was one of the best players in the Valley during his time here and that was when the league was one of the best in the country. He scored a lot of points during the era when freshmen were not eligible to play and with no shot clock or 3 point field goal. It's too bad the days of getting players of his quality are gone.
 
There is no doubt that in today's NBA, L.C. Bowen would play and play a long time. He was drafted when there were only 10 teams in the league. Now there are 20 more teams than when he played. As a result, there are roughly 260 more roster spots available. In today's NBA, the MVC is lucky to have one player get drafted every couple of years. That is how far the MVC has dropped.
Most players playing in Europe now, from the USA, would not have been good enough to play in the European leagues back in the 60's and 70's.
