Some interesting stats (Valley competition only) from the Valley's website:

* BU leads the league in blocked shots per game @4.1
* BU is third in the league in rebounding margin @+2.9

I've been critical of BU's lack of offensive punch from the post, but in fairness, you really have to look at the whole picture, and the numbers above indicate that our post guys (I'm including TW in this, though he's not really a "big") are producing on the defensive side of the ball. Understand that these numbers are mitigated by the fact that our big, physical guards are also active rebounders which bolsters this number. All in all, I think we have to appreciate the physicality that our 4's / 5's bring to the game and the impact that has on our success as the Valley's leader in the "scoring defense" stat category.

I'm not sure the stats tell the whole story. While I was very impressed by the rebounding against siu-c, there is more to post play than just that. The defense inside was weak and that concerns me. Those are not inexperienced players in there.

Of course I have only seen that one game, so I am not basing this on the whole season.

I fully agree with your post. Neither DC or SS is skilled in the post by any reasonable metric. My point was that they typically do some of the blue collar stuff very effectively, and that gets overlooked by the fact that both players are poor offensive players...I like the heart that SS shows (not to mention loyalty and toughness, and word is that he's a good kid), and the occassional "flash" that DC shows. Big picture is, however, that neither is a very good D1 center.

In the pregame, DanD mentioned that in the last 3 games, (2 losses) our bigs have only shot 6%-9% of the games shots. When we were playing better WSU, ISU they were getting 15%+ of the game's shots...
