Hersey's oldest son, Brandon Hawkins, is now at Fresno City College after spending 1 year at University of Pacific. FCC was ranked the #1 team in the state in preseason rankings, but is 2-1 after a 3rd place finish in a tournament in San Francisco. Brandon is playing well as a sophomore coming off the bench in the first 3 games.
He scored 8 and 5 points in their first 2 games, then scored a team-leading 21 points (6-9 from three) in the third game to lead FCC to a win.
In 3 games, Brandon is shooting 58% from the field (11-19), and 60% on threes (6-10), and he's averaging 5.3 assists per game.

There is nothing like signing a letter of intent with the hometown team. Just ask ASU??™s 2010 signee Corey Hawkins.

He earned the Arizona Republic's All-Arizona first-team honors and has led his team to a 60-4 record in the past two seasons. ASU??™s newest signee, and son of former NBA player Hersey Hawkins, averaged 29.8 points, 7.6 boards, 5.1 steals and 4.5 assists per game last year. He shot 41 percent from three-point range and 69 percent from the field. In his sophomore year, Hawkins averaged 22.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.8 steals and 4.0 assists. He shot 55 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range and led Estrella to the state title. ???I can bring leadership to the team,??? said Hawkins of his skills. ???I was a leader even as a freshman. I can contribute offensively with my scoring. Shooting comes naturally to me because of my dad. I know I have some stuff to work on, but I think I can bring a lot of offense.??? While Hawkins may be known most for his solid jump shot abilities, he claims that he??™s much more than your typical spot-up shooter. ???I can get to the hole really well,??? he noted. ???I think I even do that better than shooting and so far I haven??™t met anyone who has stopped me from getting to the hole. That helps me because when I draw a lot of attention I can kick it out or just blow by the defender and score.??? Hawkins knows that some of his critics aren??™t impressed by his accomplishments, since they took place only in the 3A level. The guard isn??™t fazed by that analysis noting that last season, for example, he scored 26 and 43 points respectively versus 5A teams Hamilton and Red Mountain. ???I proved that I can play with anyone,??? Hawkins stated. ???So I don??™t pay attention to people saying that. I already proved it when my team went out there and won games against 5A teams.???
