Braves Win 80-66

MM I guess you just have to miss the rest of the games!;)

DD played great on both sides of the ball. He was covering their best player for most of the game. WE played solid when he was in and the rest of the team stepped up and finished their shots around the basket. TB is Mr. Energy! Mark my word, he will be one of the great ones in the Valley by his Jr. year.

SM What guts!!!! All you haters out there owe this team an apology.

The Bandwagon is out and running and is ready to start heading on the Highway. DO not bother to get on if you're joining us now. This team will have to be reckoned with come 2nd half of the season.

Thanks SFP. I kinda made my post for you. Guess the reverse-psychology worked. LOL! ;)

Regardless of our results the one thing we are doing so much better is REBOUNDING!!!!!! WE, TW, TB, SS, CR, DD and EM all really like to go after the ball. I love it!

Singh had some good moments as well.

...
SS 21mins, 4-5=8 points, 4 rebounds(2of), 1 asst.
Defence Giddings 2 points, Duinker 6 points, only 2 of these
8 were while SS was in and that was the 2 FT's by Giddings
He had some good knock outs to his teammates on the offence boards that turned into second chance points

I think you underrated his game tonight my friend, if it was not for his play the game may of gone the other way. Good game for #54 and BU tonight:biggrin:

I've been holding off doing much posting the past 3 days. I had a hard time watching this team the first 2 games of the tournament. Too many bad lob crosscourt passes, blown layups, etc. So I wanted to wait until this game to vent, if things didn't look better. Now I feel much better, but know a team this young and playing without their top returnee, will have their ups and downs. Hopefully as the season progresses it will be mostly ups.
Enjoy Dick Versace's comments during the broadcast. He has been telling it like it is, as when he said when Sam S got called for an illegal screen, after 5 years he should know what he can get by with. This team has way too many of those fouls. I might have to agree with the students when they say most of the crowd is lifeless at times. When BU got their first 15 point lead and there was a timeout the camera panned behind the BU bench to show the crowd. If they weren't wearing red I would have thought they were Richmond fans.

Da Coach musta been buying popcorn and you missed him. ;)

Wow!

Totally agree.

This coaching staff needs to work the team PLANTING screens. We seem to set screens... but unset them - leaving them un-planted, therefore - whistled for moving screens.

Versace definitely says what he thinks, perhaps more than is safe from behind the mike. I enjoy him and usually agree with him but I could see him getting in trouble for being a little to honest.

As for the crowd, I think mostly it is just an age thing and not lack of enthusiasm. I can't say for certain not having been there, but I suspect a large percentage are older, retired folks who can travel to Florida. My father is no less a Bradley fan than he was forty years ago, based on my conversations with him, but at his age he is not making much noise or even standing very long at the games.

Correct you are sir....we are much more active w/ Singh or Egolf down in the post...

My god, did everyone see that post move Egolf made at the opening of the game..? I'm not even sure Pat had that in his arsenal...

Along w/ the comment about Sam, I think I'd like to mention Theron...he took Harper, a much bigger player to the cleaners most of the night leaving him greatly ineffective before he finally fouled out.

BTW...Indiana State lost another home game tonight and SIU lost to Western Kentucky by 9....might I mention a former BU recruit Stephon Pettigrew went 20 and 9 for the Hilltoppers.

Versace made a comment just after the player introductions, that it was so quiet in the gym, almost as if they were preparing for the Anthem again lol. Maybe to much time at the beach in the sun? LOL

One thing about the Comcast broadcasts...

Dick Versace's candid 'coach speak' on the broadcasts is fantastic. I think he's done a great job of being constructively 'critical' while still being a pro-BU analyst. A couple of great examples -

1. Pointing out against FGCU that Eddren McCain drives and jumps without a purpose and does not look to score when in the lane. After his constructive, coach-like analysis, he then said that he believes EM will end up being a fine PG. We saw improvements already against Richmond.

2. Showing obvious frustration that Sam Singh, a 5th year senior, continues to get called for moving screens every game. DV's exact words were 'He's a 5th year senior, he should know what he can and cannot get away with'.

Anyways, the overall production of the games isn't the greatest, and Bussone isn't the announcer he once was, but I really, really like the work Dick Versace is doing. I can listen to him spin yarns and analyze hoops all day.

You can place the blame directly on me, Braves 12 and OB74. (mostly me:)) Due to various committments our planned trip fell through late. Had we been there you would have heard noise and I probably would have been asked to leave by those trying to take a nap.:)

It was louder last year at South Padre with a smaller contingent. We had em whoopin it up and would have done the same in Fla.

I like versace quite a bit, but I still prefer to be able to time the radio broadcast with the video feed. Buescher and Snell are fantastic.

and what a game! Everybody just looked so much more poised and under control. Hats off to SM, who has stepped it up despite his hurt foot. And also big props to Coach Les... lots of people were really complaining about him after the teams admittedly bad loss on Monday. He made some good adjustments and his rotations worked out pretty well against a very good Richmond team. I am wondering if, for this young team, that whole week off wasn't a bad thing.... they've looked their worst after a long layoff (vs. Platteville and UMKC)

Yeah, the BU crowd was mostly older, mostly retired folk. But there were still some surprisingly loud fans. One of them really got on the refs, and I was afraid we'd get a technical. :)

I tried my best to cheer the team on, but it's tough when there are no cheerleaders to coordinate everyone. Heh. My wife elbowed me to stop when I tried to distract the opposing team during free-throws. Other than FGCU, BU definitely had a the largest fan-base there for our games.

Great game for the Braves. I hope they continue to build on it. I love how balanced the contribution was and the tough defense. The freshmen and sophmores continue to grow.

give them a break....they had a really hard past few days....
they had to spend countless hours manning the hot tubs and beaches, and don't forget the 8-10 hours of sitting right behind the Bradley bench since Monday...
It's a wonder they weren't even more worn out!

Hey, I think the crowd microphones must have gone dead!:)

The 300+ Bradley fans made a lot of noise.

For what its worth....I had to turn up my tv volume just to hear the game over my own cheering....twice my wife asked me to sit down?

When they panned the crowd and Bradley had a 15 point lead, I never seen so many arms folded. At least clap a little as the team comes off the court. The first 8-10 hours they didn't have much to cheer about, so they should have had a lot left over.
