BU 41 -- WS 61 postgame

Some thoughts...

1. I thought the slow down was a good game plan. We are short on scholarship guys, and they are deep and to get into a running contest would not have worked. It was an attempt to win the game. Didn't work, but who's to say it wasn't the best option? We'll never know since BU didn't try anything else..

2. I thought Jordan played great. He has fought through his wall and is starting to realize that he is one of the best players on the team. You can see it in the way he moves on the court. If he is one of the best players on the court, a sorry commentary on the recruiting of BU

3. Walt. He screwed up. If the plan is to drain the shot clock, whether you agree with it or not, you better agree that Walt should do what his coach is asking him. He went flying down the lane for one of those crazy flip-em-ups with at least 10-seconds left on the shot clock. Yes you want to see him get minutes for the future, but you also want him to listen to his coach, also for the future. Would expect more discipline from the one player many suggested was a jewel in BU's recent recruiting

4. I thought the effort was there, I'm not sure why some people continue to be dumbfounded every game when we struggle. We were 10 points down with 10 minutes left, which I thought was a pretty good place to be, considering who we are, and who they are, and on the road. I think if you want to really analyze the game, go back to when it was 43-33 with about 10 min left, and watch from there until it got out of hand. Did they win it, or did we lose it? I don't know the answer.

While I admire your half full optimism on BU and dogged support of the current team/coaching staff BNC... Others are dumbfounded by other MVC teams with no preseason ALL MVC players performing better than BU who still has a lot of experienced players still on the squad, and, one preseason all MVC player. We are dumbfounded that no one else on the BU roster other than JP and AW appear to be able to compete at the MVC level. We are dumbfounded that BU hasn't had an inside game since POB/ZA....and didn't have much of one WITH TB last year..We are dumbfounded BU apparently has only two players on their roster who can make an outside shot, and both were seniors when the season started. We are dumbfounded BU is filled with players whose only offensive ability is to try and drive to the basket...

I am dumbfounded some posters are dumbfounded about other posters being dumbfounded about how bad this BU program is at this time.

Wichita State is very, very good. No matter what lineup the Braves would have trotted out, the Shockers end up winning. The Braves look good in the early stages with the controlled tempo I thought. Since the Shockers have one of the best rebounding differentials in the country, even JL knew that he had go with a bigger lineup.

The 2 big lineup was -19 for just over 35 minutes and the 4 small was -1 was for just under 5 minutes. WE picked up his first half fouls in the 4 small lineup as he scrambled to provide some sort of inside presence in the paint.

It was nice to see MK get some minutes. he looked a little more relaxed and more confident with a couple of offensive moves.

I am dumbfounded to think that a poster would think we would compete with WSU...and feel the need to blast one of our players when he has come off two very very good outings....

SMH and lets get the Jays!

Please no more post game....."we need to work harder on D' stuff".....if you can score you can stay in the game...we were down 15-20 and walked the ball down court the whole game?

We have a very clear goal this year:

Step 1: work hard on D

Step 2: ?

Step 3: Win

This year is what it is. But Prosser is going to be a load in the MVC by the time he is a jr and sr. He had some very strong and athletic put backs.

Thanks. There is really no reason to feel otherwise when talking about college basketball. It is something to enjoy. And while the current players and coaches are there, they will have my support.

I am dumbfounded to think a poster thought another poster thought BU could/would compete with WSU. Particularly dumbfounding when that poster never said/intimated BU would compete vs WSU in his post. ;-)

BU being able to compete with EU, ISU R, Drake, SIU this season? A poster should be dumbfounded anyone would think BU shouldn't be able to compete vs these teams this season.

Hopefully one of BU's players will make me dumbfounded by his play the rest of the season...and a poster would be dumbfouned if said player wouldn't agree he shouldn't play out of control and fling up wild shots. A poster would be dumbfounded if said player's coach also commented about this to the said player regardless if said player had two good games previously!

DKWSMHM, but, agree with BU getting the Blue Jays at home... Shock the world BU!

I thought JP played a good game too. Sometime this season I'd like to see JL try a lineup of three of our bigs in the game at the same time just to see how it would work...

That was a fun game to view regarding the camera placement. It seemed like the camera was low and in the 15th row, it seemed like I was sitting in the 15th row watching that game. I wish every team had a placement like that.

Wonder if the camera placement was part of WSU's stadium design, or, prompted by the ESPN2 game broadcast production team?

The ESPN boys do a pretty good job of game production and probably have lots of high tech goodies to present great video coverage!

From what I gathered from reading his comment, it had less to do with Pross and more to do with the "others"...

Am I correct AZ?

Let me say that I thought this was one of Les' better game plans of the year and I thought he and the players did a relatively good job. Unfortunately, WSU has put together such a deep, strong team that I think their second team (which they often substituted in 4 at a time ala Dean Smith at UNC) would have been able to beat our badly depleted and under-talented team. It goes back to recruiting........ :(

That camera placement is the way it is every game that is televised at Koch Arena. They don't have spots in the rafters like alot of arena's do. They have the camera's about midway up where the tunnels to the concourse are. I assume they did this so they didn't have to rip out seats to put the cameras higher. They are basically among some of the handicap area's in the arena.

Yeah, but we refuse to get him the ball more.

This game gave me very little hope about our future program. I was looking forward to development of WL - he plays what - 5 minutes?
DSE is in a sophomore slump, which I never saw coming.
JP doesn't get the ball enough.

The main reason I watched the game was to see WL, because he has such potential. Every time JL gets PO'd at a player, they get benched for long droughts.
WL probably never expected this nightmare of a season and seems to want to win in the worst way. I think he has the most reason to leave BU and really be great somewhere else. I hope that's not the case, but man, the kid hustles always, is our toughest player, and then he gets benched because of a mistake for 30 minutes or so. Not right IMO. He's just a freshman - you're down 20+ points - get him so P.T. - what future does Woods have on this team next season? If it's something big, that mean we'll probably be looking at 0-11 next season too.
Very disappointing game - felt like we could have done a lot more on offense, but HEY - that's the gameplan I guess!

I thought we executed the game plan pretty well for the most part. Unfortunately to properly execute that game plan you need guys who can shoot it and we don't have that. On defense even though we gave up just 61points we gave up too many second chance points in the first half and in the second half too many wide open shots. Once again I thought we played good for stretches but we can just never sustain it for a full game. If we get the Blizzard of 2011 that is being projected I'll be curious to see how many will be at the game Tuesday agianst CU. Whether I get there by car or by dog sled I'll be there to support my Braves.
