Bu 56 WC 54

I think they were. They are eligible to play, though to preserve their redshirt option, they probably won't. They knew DD was not going to be on the bench.

BTW- I hope he's feeling OK. He was not at the game, according to a couple people who should have known.

I hope he is too. Coach Les said he was recovering back in Bloomington with family during the post game show. Get well soon and keep your head up, Dodie!

Great win by BU over an underrated talented team. :D I predict Illinois will struggle vs Wofford! Great confidence builder for BU to win down the stretch without their best defender DD available to them. Once BU 3 pt guard shooting comes alive vs better teams, BU should be in the driver's seat!

Didn't see the game, tried to follow it on ESPN Game day, but it seemed BU lost their lead in the second half when their jump shooting, and then rebounding, went south. Didn't look like many plays during this time were run through the post, or inside the paint, or any drives to the hoop during this stretch....Was this how it went? Did anyone else notice this?

What I saw right around the 8 minute mark or so was a very very quick comeback by Wofford. Bradley was kind of in the driver's seat and then Les subbed in some guys who had trouble, but I think only gave up 3 of the 12 pt lead. Looked like Wofford was starting to get back into it so Les put the TB, WE, CR, AW, and SM or EM (can't remember which) and as I recall (memory is bad) it seemed like about 30 seconds passed and Wofford had converted a bad BU shot and a bad BU turnover into 2 quick threes and were right back in it. Bradley also had a couple of fouls called against them in there, with Wofford taking care of business at the charity stripe.

We aren't as deep as we thought. No one off the bench can score except for Sam, and I am not sure he'll be coming off the bench much longer.

Losing DD hurts but I disagree. AT is giving us more then we thought so far, DSE is a man already, CR is CR and I expect to see MK improve throughout the year. So what gives?

Yeah, seems like our bench will be AT, DSE, EM (or SM), and MK. DD really hurts bad, but if MK does start contributing during gametime I feel like that's a pretty strong bench. If DSE can give us 6 ppg as a freshman, I think it's huge. His drive is the best I've seen at Bradley since I don't know when. He showed that again last night, even if he wasn't able to convert. He gets to the rim a little like Ruffin but he seems to finish better there, since he's bigger and stronger. Really-- I feel like if CR could learn some first step stuff from DSE he'd be unstoppable, and it's nice to think your Senior scoring leader could learn something from an incoming frosh.

You are correct. BU stopped going to the post with their inside/out play that was so effective (and improved) earlier. Wofford also hit a few 3's to make it close. However, once the game was on the line our talent rose up and the boys "got er done".

My only real complaint yesterday was that we stopped going inside in the last 10 minutes of the game. They had no answer for TB, WE, or even AT down there. Other than that, +8 on the glass is really good, as is our defensive FG%. For that 10 min stretch in the 2nd half we finally were making some shots, and it's amazing how good a team can look when they're making shots. Conversely, it's amazing how bad they can look when they're not.

We stopped going anywhere....like I said, about 8 to go Les held up the fist and Maniscalco started to try and dribble the clock out 35 feet from the basket.

That's a good observation SLB. Bradley has one speed: full. They always play terribly when they're trying to run the game out. Thing is, while Bradley usually takes a the first good look they get when running their offense, they seem to run at least 20 seconds off the clock on each posession... I think they should just play their game unless they're blowing someone out. We weren't blowing Wofford out yet with 8 minutes left.

The worst part about it, I felt like with about 10 min left, we were running the best offense we had all night. DSE and Sammy were entering the ball into the high post with Taylor or the low post with Will and Chris and we were getting great looks out of it.

Then all of a sudden we're up by 12 and the game is over....with 8 minutes left?

No coach, I don't think so....its WAY too early to start running clock.

As I said before Fish, how do they expect our players to keep it turned up to high when our coach is complacent, apparently has no killer instinct, and is just a-ok with pulling it back with 8 minutes to go?

Well I'm sure Les' intention was not to let Wofford back in the game. If I were a coach in that situation, no problem with slowing tempo a bit to try to control the other team's opportunities on offense... But the slowing of tempo should not equal Maniscalco dribbling around like he's lost it should just discourage him from taking a 3 after 5 seconds have come off the shotclock.

I don't agree there though as we were in a great flow both offensively and defensively and were at the time scoring at will....

Why pull back the reigns when the lead could have easily been 20 by the 5 minute mark where you then can ease back a bit?

True. Not to mention that our posessions were pretty deliberate due to all the passing involved and consuming plenty of clock.

But what would your reaction be if this caused us to be down 5-10 instead? It's easy to play Monday morning quarterback. Let's just say that a win is a win and go on to Presby with a smile and another notch in our belt. Like a good baseball manager Les simply played the numbers to get the W.

Yeah, I guess I'm not as concerned with how it worked last night... Just more interested in the fact that we seem to be pretty bad at slowing down. I've felt many times that our offense stops working when we try to run clock.

I personally think it's kind of because we design our offense to take several approaches at the basket until we get a good open shot. Having SM dribble around for 15 seconds just limits the number of looks we try to develop.

Yeah, and I agree completely there....

That and Sammy isn't very good at just dribbling around because he does so with his head down...

We end up not even running a play and get a bail out long jumper out of it usually with a 1 and done.

We do much better when we run our sets and move the ball quickly without so much dribbling.

I must ask though...with Andrew back and now having DSE and Chris, along with skilled players that can take the ball inside in Will and Taylor, why don't we run the weave anymore?

Yeah, ditto on weave. Only saw it, I think, once last night. It didn't work that well for us last year, so I wonder if Coach Les has removed it...
