BU 58@ #19 Florida 81

So we lose to the a top 20 team after playing 48 hours earlier, step off of a plane and lose and now the roof has caved in and there is no way for us to make a post season.

Ill keep believe this team is improving and will contiue to improve.

Look this team has some serious issues with its shooting. But we played this team pretty tough without our best shooter and most experienced player. We also have some again serious rebounding issues and we really need to get SM back to who he was while starting for Ruffin last season, but we have the rest of Nov all the way into March. I am certain JL sees alot of what the rest of us sees, and I am confident he will address what needs to addressed,

We are now 1-1 and Im not sure there are to many who expected much better. We are a very young but extremely athletic basketball team. This team got beat badly on the scoreboard today, but if you watched any of the game it looked much better in moving the ball today and again was just off of a plane and expected to play a top 20 team. Its an excuse but valid one, we were set up to fail today. Asking us to play at the top of our game in the second game after a flight and a game 48 hours before and it being our second game of the season versus Florida without your best returning player... exactly how does that make us screwed and with no chance of any post season?

Yeah, people need to stop freaking out about this loss. We didn't match up well with Florida, everyone expected a loss, and it wasn't a TERRIBLE loss. What I saw today from Bradley was what I thought enough to finish in the top 3 in the MVC. This is why we have non-conference play. To get ready for conference play. By the end of december nobody in our conference is going to want to play us. Period.

I did not expect us to win this game, but there are some things that definitely need to be fixed. Hopefully, the entire team has a great week of practice and shows that they all deserve playing time. Can we please get SM to shoot the ball from inside the arc a little more often?

You are probably right, but obviously WE isn't doing something that Jim wants or needs. I think it's a little premature to get down on DC - He had a great preseason, and has faced a very good 7 footer and one of the biggest teams in the country so far. Let's not forget, POB had a 2 point game against a small Drake team when he was here, so let's not make any knee-jerk decisions on folks this early. I think DC has some good moments coming.

And DC is about as lazy as POB was....

Really what is the point? He had a decent preseason against a couple non DI teams? Hmm...that doesn't exactly peak my interest....

I'm just not sold on him...especially when he's 7'0'' tall and we have guards who outrebound him...

I'm not in panic mode yet, but I also feel there are players who are playing minutes they don't deserve...

Just because you score 14 points doesn't make it ok to give up 20 to the guy you are guarding...just an example....

Once again, Sam Singh has outplayed Collins in every facet of the game...PERIOD!

Practice? We talkin' bout Practice!!

Forget the practice, we've got games coming up.

Edit: Oh, I thought the Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday games were this week not next. But at least I got to Channel AI.

Until AW actually comes back and shows that he is healthy, I think everyone should stop using "and we did it without our top returning scorer, best shooter, etc......". I'm guilty of doing this as well, but really see no point in it anymore until he gets on the floor consistently and we see how the rotation of players is affected.

I think that the DC/SS rotation is fine. I think DC is the type of guy who probably needs to start and get loose early, and SS is more the type of guy that can handle a bench role. The only tweaking of the starting lineup I think would be inserting AW somewhere.

This is like the excuse the old regime had for starting Reggie Hall...

I'm sorry but I'm not buying whatever it is you're selling...

The BEST players are the ones that should start...

It has become obvious (so far) that they are not.

IMO ...and its only 2 games but the guys who seem to be the most pressing are SM and TW! They should be leading and maybe its because AW is out but they are forcing the issue and not playing up to thier caliber yet!

I agree. I think SM is trying to take up too much of the scoring slack and trying too hard "to make things happen". I think he just needs to settle down and play his game; he's a distributor and the floor general. I think once he has AW back and gains confidence that his teammates can score when he gets them the ball he'll be OK. He will not play against the caliber of talent that he played against today. He matches up VERY well in the MVC and has already proven that he can play at that level.

Sam will be OK. :)

I'm not selling anything, and the best players don't always start. I don't know what you're all bent out of shape about, especially regarding my posts. :?:

And how many points do we give up when other players not named DC run away from the three-point shooters? Using this logic, SM should not being getting the minutes he has. I mean, he contributed five points?

Agree 110% as that is just a cop out used when we don't play well...

Andrew won't score every point, nor will he guard every player from the opposing team...

We still have to have FIVE guys working together along w/ a cohesive coaching staff to get this thing going in the right direction...

There is much that needs to be done, and it is my hope that come conference time, we will have it going in the proper and winning direction.

EXACTLY!

Glad to note that someone else sees what I am seeing out there...

DC and SM are the players I was referring to when I stated that JL needs to light a fire under a couple of players..... I am not worried about SM as much as DC.

I'm not bent out of shape...and usually I agree w/ you BB...I just can't agree on some of the issues presented, but hey, thats why this is a message board...

I mean its just an opinionated discussion...hope you aren't taking it too hard...

Me either Ben....somehow I think DC would disappear...I would though like to see what Will has...I'm just afraid they've grouped him into the center spot when he's more of a 4...

Sam will eventually be ok on offense...his D scares me though...BIG TIME!

Unless you have personally witnessed these guys in practice please stop referring to them as lazy. That's just rude.

If you want to talk talent, that's fine. I'll agree that DC is lacking in basketball knowledge and natural talent. I'll agree that he has bad footwork, bad hands, is a step slow, and plays soft. Let's just stop knocking his character unless you know something.

DC seems like a good kid who gives it his all; that's all I ask. He's just been put in a bad position as he should, IMO, be providing minutes off the bench, not as a starter.

No no, not at all. Just kind of surprised folks are so fired up on personnel issues 2 games into the season. No worries.

What really stinks is that we have to wait a whole week for our next game, and nearly 2 weeks for our next home game. What are we going to do all week?

Just got back from watching the game at a friend's house.

I thought BU did some good things. Did some not so good things too.

I really like EM, but he's got to look to score a little more, especially when he gets in the paint off the drive, he had a couple of chances to pop in a little 10 footer with nobody around against the zone, but he's not even looking to do it.

It's really tough for Theron against a team like this, even if he does everything right, he's at such a disadvantage with regards to size, that sometimes he's just not effective, at the 4 anyway. We can get away with it in the Valley, but not against Florida.

Sam M wasn't great today, had trouble hitting his 3's, but I look for him to get it worked out, and when Warren comes back, that will help Sam out I think.

I thought Sam S, C Roberts, and T Brown all did some really good things today. C Roberts with another good second half, he's got a chance to pretty darn good for BU if he keeps working.

Dodie good again, but we can't rely on him to be our main 3 point shooter, he's really a crapshoot from out there, you never know if he's gonna swish it or fail to draw iron.

I still look for this team to be pretty solid. I would like us to tweak the offense a little, and get some more things going towards the bucket instead of so much drive and kick, but not ready to scrap it entirely until I see the system with a healthy Warren.

We need to have a great week of practice, and go down to Florida with some focus, it would be a shame to go down and have a let down against any of the 3 teams we play down there. If we do things the right way, there's no reason we can't come back with 3 wins in 3 days during Thanksgiving week.

Go BU.

Agree Will looks to be more of a 4 but we need him at the 5 this year.imo
I am all for easing Will into some pt during games and adjusting his pt
once he plays... either way... but we need to get WE some time this year as we loose DC and SS after this year...
