BU 72 - #20 illini 68

Still can't quite get over it. Great gritty win. Cr played great d all night. Sm was money aw was money. Em played a tough d game and handled the ball great. Tb showing himself an all around player with consistency. We had a great night in all phases. And we had solid contributions from at dse and mk. I hope the braves convert this into swagger and consistent night in night out effort. Could be a great year if they do.

Just got home from my daughter's home in Boiler Town In. Listen to the game on a Illini station while driving. No one was happy! Listen to the post game with B Weber. Not a happy man! He did say he told his player's before the game that BU would be a tougher game than last night's because Bradley was a better team than Utah and because of the two being in state schools! He was really rattled to say the least!
Great win for the players, coach's and the fans:biggrin:

Talk about a rollercoaster ride! Just got home from our 50th wedding anniversary celebration with family, friends, and former schoolmates. Fabulous time. Then, had a flat tire on the way home. Downer. Then get home, tune in to BradleyFans.com and hear BU beats U of I. Don't know if it gets much better than this, but then the night's not over. Sweet dreams.

Great post TNel...and congrats on the 50th anniversary!!!

Just back to the hotel- what a great night!
There were around 1200-1400 Bradley fans in the Arena and may be slightly more Illinois fans. The BU fans hung around after the game to congratulate the players. They were a happy bunch of guys.
I got to meet Taylor Brown's folks who are here with a large contingent of family. Also, Milos and Will had large families here.

Now a lot of people wearing red are celebrating!

What a great report, thanks...

What a difference a day makes! So happy we made a quick turnaround and played good ball! Go Braves!! And, this cemented, we will NEVER see Bruce Weber's Illini team in PCC!

Congrats Braves on a BIG win. The Illini can always run but they can't always hide. Now they will probably not enter any tourney situations without a "No Other In-state Schools Exclusion Clause" for the next 10 yrs. or so. Oh well.....................you got'r done!

Has anyone else noticed a differnet offensive spacing and motion lately, especially in tonight's game?

I think some of that is because on the floors with an NBA 3 pt line, our guys run the "O" a little further out and are apparently guided by a subconscious sense of where that line is. We even shot a couple times from the NBA line, and it's probably why Milos hit the front of the rim each time.

BTW - Mike that Sun Times article is really funny and ironic...and it talks about how Illinois' "mojo" ain't worth squat!

and one Bruce Weber comment-
"That’s what the guys don’t understand. (Bradley) was the best team we played. They’re better than Utah."

Liesse's column is funny..lots of excuses like Illinois is young, they haven't had enough time to practice...etc..
BU's scholarship players who played were --ONE senior, 2 juniors, 4 sophomores, 2 freshmen
Uof I's scholarship players who played were ONE senior, 6 juniors, 0 sophomores, 2 freshman
looks pretty even to me.....or maybe even Illinois even has the advantage in upperclassmen..

Was that an NBA sized court, the NBA court is a little bigger than the college court. Now that I think about it, the offense did look more spread out to me too.

it had the NBA 3-pt line so it had to be a court where they play at least some NBA exhibitions

Hey-- here's a great post from the Kansas board...
"Lolz. Actually is this really an upset?
I really don't like to hear the words "Bradley" and "upset" in the same sentence."

it's their premium board but it's really, really funny....check it out...

I just hope we bring the same focus to NIU!

Well said Shaun....BU needs to make sure they build on this great W. The team has fought hard almost every night this season. I think Jimmy is still getting the rotation down. When it gets set, I expect BU to play even better.

BU has this W in the "at-large" file now, but really this team can do so much more if they build upon it and go on a nice run.

Agree! We have that win that looks great a tourney resume, but only if we take care of business and put up a good number of W's. I really like this team and what they are able to do. BTW, IMO....TB is not just a B10 type of player, but a player that would do well in any conference. He is a big, BIG time talent!!

Not much else thats already been said. All 5 starters were in double figures, that'll certainly give opposing defenses a migraine before the game even starts LOL. Made the FT's and limited the turnovers. If they would of just done that against OK State, then it would of been a win. But then we wouldn't of been able to play Illinois lol.

Milos might of been tired from all the emotions of being back home with his family and friends, his shot was short but at least he's getting more confident and focused while on the court. I would like to see him develop a nice move and get a closer jump shot. Sort of like how Crouch did.

-Game announcers really loved the game atmosphere that the BU/IL fans brought along with them. Was by far the most fans, even with OK and UT combined. The one announcer even mentioned that he is now considering enrolling his kid in an IL university. Made several nice comments about both BU and IL players.

-From looking at the game minutes, it appears Weber is still trying to figure out what rotation works the best. He certainly has the talent, but they have to be able to play together. Hope they figure it out before Big 10 season starts or else its big trouble.

-Several stories indicate that 18 NBA scouts were in attendance watching a couple Illinois players. Hopefully a few BU players caught their eye and we'll be seeing more of them in future games.
