Who are you referring to? Who was defending Granger? Just because someone didn't attack Granger, they were defending him?

Granger was not announced, I personally was shocked to see him there. I didnt have a problem with him being there though, I spoke with him briefly and he said he wanted to catch up with some old friends and was very nice to me.

I am just saying- he has friends that played here- regardless of how poorly his exit was done...

I had a great time and his being there didn't bother me because I said- Oh there's DG and then I went back to watching the others...

Really, it is good for BU to show themselves bigger than the situation and allow (or not care or want) DG to be there and interact with those who knew him well. Obviously wasn't a showcase of DG, so what the heck. If anything, it shows DG might even realize he made a mistake. He WAS comfortable with people at Bradley - enough to come back to an event like this. Good luck to you DG. We DO follow your path in life and we DO wish you only the best.

Although I didn't see it, I was told JL briefly talked with Granger. Classy move on Jim's part. The past is the past. I'm looking forward to the future.

As others have said, I was surprised with Granger's appearence but that's in the past so I don't see a point in bringing up old grudges.

I am also all for burying any past grudges. It's great that Danny Granger was here. I hope he was invited by BU, but either way, it shows a great deal of class from the coaches and AD that he was welcomed here.

Everyone is entitled to have whatever opinion they want to about DG.

I like that the BU representatives like JL, KK at least showed class on the outside no matter what their personal feelings are or might be.

If they can rise above and move on so can I.

Good point. There are a lot of people who have a connection to Bradley basketball whether it be fans, administration here at BU or others that have a lot of bad blood with regards to Granger, but I really respect the fact that KK and Coach Les could put that aside yesterday to welcome him back. Props to them.

With all that said, I think DG being there has led us off what we should really be talking about. Yesterday was a great day for the BU program it was awesome being around the guys and bottom line is it was Coach Stowell's birthday party. I hope that hasn't gotten lost in all this Granger talk. Coach Stowell has meant so much to this program for decades and I for one am glad there was such a great number of guys who came back. Coach enjoyed himself and to me that makes yesterday a huge success.
 
Sorry Tornado, but like the post from amckiiiip said, the only ex-Brave there was Granger. I missed the beginning, and was wondering if they played the National Athem. If they did, does DG still hide while it's being played? Now I'm done talking about an ex-Brave. It was great seeing the recent grads and some "old timers", who I still consider Braves.
 
I'm pretty good friends with a lot of the ex bradley players and Danny Granger. Some of the ex players actually called Danny and asked him to come since they were all going to be back together again. If the players from the team he left are still friends with Danny, how can you blame him for coming back to see them? How many chances do you think there are for all those guys to be at the same place at the same time? Some of you fans need to move on. At some point you need to let some things go.
 
Bradley has had many players over the years transfer. DG is the only one I know to say he was treated like a slave. All of his comments were ridiculous. To miss the team bus to Indiana St and have Danny Adams drive him over there and then score 30 some points and then quit the team showed he cared about DG and the hell with the team. You bought him back up so please don't tell Bradley fans to drop it. By the way, if they played the National Athem at the alumi game, did DG hide as usual.

I agree. You don't just show up. If you want to be around ANYTHING program-related, you mend fences with those you STABBED IN THE BACK and those whos' CAREERS YOU TRIED TO RUIN before you set foot on campus. I'm honestly kind of shocked and upset at the laissez-faire attitude most have had regarding this. Yes, BU has gone onto bigger and better things, and the high road to the media is the way to go. It doesn't mean those things didn't happen, or have all the sudden been forgiven or forgotten. He isn't a part of this program, and shouldn't be allowed to just waltz into our basketball mecca and act like nothing happened. No way.

I think it's very telling that every person who I have told about about this has had the exact same initial reaction - "Did they kick him out?" Unfortunately I had to answer 'no'. :cry:
 
What right would they have to kick him out if he was merely there to see some friends?

When I saw him during the game, he was sitting quietly with his woman- hardly dominating teh scene or detracting from the day...
 
Couldn't kick him out, but sure as heck could have just ignored him, like most of us did. I got there late and missed the start. Still wondering if he hid during the National Athem, as usual.
 
Was he trespassing? Did he snaek in? The only people still talking about him being there are on this board!

The DG era was certainly a rocky one that seriously threatened to set back the Bradley program. DG, in his youth, made some inappropriate comments etc ... I suspect that there are some things JL would do differently as well if given the chance.

BU has fared well and DG has fared well since that inauspicious time. If BU wants a family environment, then there will be a prodigal son from time-to-time. Some posters claim DG as an ex-BU player when we count BU players playing professionally. I say welcome him back and be thankful that both he and the program have successfully moved on to better places.

Why would you welcome someone back who did everything he could to put down the coach, program, and university? Yes, BU is a family. When someone goes out of their way to harm the family as DG did, they don't get welcomed back with open arms. When someone goes out of their way to badmouth my family, I take it personally. I am shocked that so many on here want to welcome this kid back. Would they want to welcome him back if he wasn't playing in the NBA? I doubt it.

You didn't really complete your analogy BB... It gets a lot tougher to take a hard line if the person causing trouble in the family is a family member, which in your analogy DG would have been. I'm not in a hurry to welcome him back or kick him out or whatever. If the staff and team could handle his being there, then obviously they've "forgiven" him, and they know these situations a lot better than (at least) I do. So I'll defer judgement to them.
 
This is just ridiculous. I'm sure some of you posters have no idea of every single thing that was said and that happened on the trip to Evansville. Danny didn't even want to stay in the first place. To his defense, he was ready to transfer as soon as Molinari was fired. I talked to him all the time and he kept telling me he didn't know about playing for Coach Les. He was more than ready to transfer and if he had, then that was his option. Coach Les convinced him to try playing for him and didn't take long for him to dislike that environment. I'm sure Danny would take back some of the things he said but he was basically a kid who was upset and said things in the heat of the moment. I'm sure none of you ever did or said anything you regret at some point in your life. Some of you really need to lay off.
