BU at Creighton game thread

BU wearing black uniforms.
BU gets tip but turns the ball over on first possession.

So does Creighton.

Shot clock guy has to get his s*** together! Can't get into a flow when there's a stoppage after every possession

Bad shot by TB. He needs to square up.

The refs don't seem intimidated by the crowd- they just called a foul on McDermott.

Way to go DSE- 2-2

Good start for BU and DSE. But I'm not sure if we have any real chance of beating this team at their place. But you never know.

Creighton just too much as is the case with most opponents. Just a frustrating season! Can't believe it's this tough. Thought we had alot more talent than what it being displayed. Still alot of time for an upset though! GO BRAVES!

I'm proud of the effort we put forth against Creighton though. I think we game Creighton more than enough heartburn for the two games we played against them. They did not look like the #14 team in the country tonight, and credit Bradley's tough defense for some of that. But ranked teams win games like this, and they count just as much as any other win. And that's what seperates them from the rest. I will say though that if Creighton plays like that next week against Wichita St., they will get spanked, even in their house. But I'm really looking forward to watching that game, and now that we are done with both of those team, I hope they win out beyond their game against each other next week.

Just one piece of advice for Geno tonight, who otherwise did a nice job coaching. When a player looks lost, don't hesitate to bench him for the rest of the game! WL looked as lost as I have ever seen a player on this team look in a long, long time! Something is not right with him, and I think he needs to sit awhile to get himself focused again. Coaches should not be afraid to make a move like that when someone is hurting the team like WL did tonight. I'm not saying he cost us the game, but I'm sure we had a 6 to 8 point swing because of him. And that could have changed the whole complexion of the last ten minutes of the game.

Final score Creighton 73 BU 59

Poor shooting and turnovers kept Bradley from a chance in this game.
Walt with an ugly line- 6 points, 1 assist, and 7 turnovers.
Jordan Prosser was not credited with any rebounds, according to ESPN.

Really??? He could've fooled me! I don't even remember when he scored. I do remember most of the turnovers though! I'll say he cost us at least 6 to 8 points tonight.

I think Walt wants to do so well that he tries to do too much. His brain gets ahead of his body, causing him to go too fast. If we had other options Geno would be playing them right now. Walt's going to have to figure it out. As far as the game an inspired effort but too many empty possessions on offense was too much to overcome. The next trick for BU is to have consistent back to back effort in consecutive games. If we can we'll beat Evansville. If we don't we'll lose. That's the next step we need to take.

I think a lot of BU fans drank the kool aid on a lot of BU's players the past several years...regarding their talent vs players on the other top teams in the MVC...

Players make or break the coach, as 2-19 at UCD and 12-8 at WIU illustrate. One supposedly a really good coach, one supposedly not so good....the truth lying somewhere in between and highly dependent on the quantity of quality players the Coach has at his disposal, vis a vis the other teams in the leagues they play in.

Recruit, recruit, recruit! This is what makes/breaks almost all coaches in the upper half of NCAA Div 1.

I thought that we could have won tonight. The chances were defiantly there. We missed too many layups, made too many dumb fouls and our defensive rotation and transition defense looks aweful at times. Geno should have pulled Walt out of the game after his 3rd turnover. It was just not his night, so Geno needs to find another option to handle the ball. I saw DSE dribble up the ball a few times tonight, so that might be the short time answer, but getting the ball up the floor and the first pass are key in setting up any offense. There was an Anthony Thompson sighting tonight as well which made me happy. Looks like he got a little bit of confidence going and being more aggressive. Hope he can keep that up and end his Bradley career on a high note. We showed some fight again a really good Creighton team, so I'm gonna give our guys some props, but we are no where near a team that can compete for a MVC title for quite a few years. I'll be surprised if we win another game this season. Hopefully next year we can be a little more competitive with a point guard coming in and having some front court depth. Those are my thoughts.

no question that since game 1 this season we have lacked in PG play, post presence, and outside shooting --
..and JP is not the only starting frontcourt player who got zero rebounds....but seriously ..
one of the players who has been selected to start every game this season - got zero points, zero rebounds, zero assists, but did get in the scorebook with fouls & to

I am beginning to hear some of the arguments that maybe a lineup change can't do any worse...
AT had 8 pts, 7 rebs in 18 min off the bench

SS also blocked a shot, and had a steal, only played 13 mins and is a FRESHMAN and has all the upside in the world he's taking his lumps for us right now, This kid is going to put on some weight and his JR and Sr seasons watch out, BIG shout out to Stix!, He has had a solid season for a back up 5, just another reason to take it easy on SS and WL, its took alot longer then we would have liked but AT has become a nice player.

I've been saying this since the 4th or 5th game of the season!

I found it interesting that up 12 points with about 12 seconds left, Creighton chose not to dribble out the game, but instead get McDermott two more points ahead of the buzzer. I wonder if there was something to that.

As for Creighton as a whole, I could see them getting knocked off by an 11 or 10 seed from the Big East in the first round. Ate am that has 2 physical post players will cause them problems.

Doesn't bother me. Game is 40 minutes.

I'm sure that was motivated by the fact that 4 different times in that final possession, Creighton guards tried to back it out and just let the clock run out, only to have a Bradley defender close out on the ballhandler and swipe at the ball. Bradley forced Creighton to run an offensive play by not letting them dribble out the clock. When you do that, you can't complain when the opponent scores on that final possession.

Nothing wrong with Bradley wanting to compete until the end.

And Im sure a few extra buckets won't hurt his scoring average and his bid for National POY.
