BU commit- 2016- Nate Kennell

We really could use a shooter and scorer like Nate. We haven't had someone who can shoot that well for several years. No wonder Bradley is the worst shooting and lowest scoring team in the MVC every year.

speaking of shooting - we shoot 38% overall, and 33% from the arc as a team...
our shooting has even gotten worse in league play...

so -- remember how anxious people were last year to get rid of Walt Lemon- who ended up scoring 1721 points for Bradley and finished 7th ALL TIME in scoring while maintaining an AVERAGE shooting accuracy over those four years of 44.2%!

That 44.2% would lead our entire team this year save for one player (Xzavier Taylor, who has made only 20 baskets in the 20 games the team has played).
Can't say it surprises me though.

So far as I know

So far as I know

The only type of players we recruit are those who when shooting can not hit water from a boat. How or why would we want a player of such positive caliber? :?:

I'm guessing that if Coach Wardle is visiting a couple 2016 recruits who are over 300 miles apart, there could be other recruits on his list that he'll try to hit on his trip.

Not sure if Coach Wadle had a home visit with Nate Kennell today or not. However, Coach Wadle and A.J Guyton were at Metamoras open gym last night and did talk with Nate. No word on what was said. Aaron Zobrist and Nate are cousins also which might help in recruiting him. Nate does have a home visit tonight with NIU. NIU has been recruiting him the hardest so far. This kid can shoot the ball! His AAU team will have a big weekend in Lexington,Ky as the top AAU programs in the nation play. Expect lots of D1 coaches to be on hand this weekend for this event.

I hope we go after these local guys real hard and w/ CR and now AJG in the fold it can only help as the staff talk to these young men and both of them are legends in Peoria basketball.
It's true they played quite a while ago but they are still remembered among the young guys that still play and even more among the parents. They might not be the primary recruiter but you know they are go to be in the ear of these young men and their parents.

Nate has had a few visitors the last couple of days as BU, UNI and ISU Red have all paid a visit to Metamora. Have heard his family would like for Nate to stay close to home but will support whatever he decides. Dad is a BU grad.

Nate Kennell just had a good weekend with the Illinois Wolves in a tournament in Louisville. He got a mention by a national recruiting expert in this article-
http://www.burlisononbasketball.com/2015/04/a-look-at-friday-night-in-louisville-uaa-style/

Nate had a really good weekend in Louisville. He lead the team in scoring and rebounding from what i heard and read. He is definitely what you would consider a "pure" shooter. Some people hate this word, but he is not real "athletic". Hard working kid with a lot of heart tho and to me that means alot. Their center 6'9" 250lb Jack Lieb just picked up an offer today from SIUE coach Jon Harris. Lied tore his ACL in June and ISU still offered him. His other offer is from Brown. His high school coach calls him the hardest working kid he has ever coached. He played for Deerfield and didn't get in a game till Feb because of his injury. I hope Bradley" keeping an eye on this kid as he sound like he has LOTS of upside. I also heard it was a who's who's of college coaches in Louisville this weekend. Roy Williams was in attendance as was Jimmy Less. Coach Less got a home visit scheduled this weekend with the Wolves guard Joe Mooney.

I agree with your assessment of Kennell. Some coaches won't recruit a kid with his level of athleticism. But the teams in the MVC that win, always have players like him.

I know Coach Les really likes Joe Mooney. He was the first D1 coach to offer him (Mooney plays for Tom Les). And he still feels he has a good chance to land him, though there are now more than a dozen schools after him.

Nate

Nate

I heard from a reliable source that Nate is getting interest from Northern Iowa and Pepperdine and Bradley has been out to Metamora to watch an open gym.
