BU commit- 2016- Nate Kennell

I have been hearing that Nate is being recruited the heaviest by Pepperdine right now. Northern Iowa has been keeping in touch with him also. However,I also heard that Nate has an official visit this week at Bradley. I believe he will be visiting either Wed with Scottie James or possibly Thursday. Go get them Coach Wardle!!!

Nate had a visit at Bradley last night! I heard from a really good source that it went well and Nate liked everything he heard from BU! He wants to major in engineering! We have a leg up in that category and his father graduated from Bradley!

I wonder....when was the last time Bradley got a verbal from a High schooler a year early?
Jeremy Crouch and Sammy Maniscalco are the last two I can think of.

Glad to see Nate had a good visit at Bradley. He needs to get stronger, put on some weight and he will be ready to go. He is one of the best PURE shooters around if not the best. NIU and Wisconsin win with these type of players every year. Not the most "athletic" players, but they ALL know their rolls. Zobrist, Adams and Kennell were all students under the guidance of the "SHOT DOCTOR". All three could shoot the ball, but Nate may be the best of them all.

I agree Mr. Z. does a great job with those kids over there in Redbird town.

Heard from a reliable source that while Nate had a good visit an offer was not made. However Coach Wardle told Nate and his Dad that he'd like for them to possible come back in the near future to discuss it further. Nate and his Dad were both impressed with Coach Wardle and his attention to detail and in what direction Coach Wardle wants the program to go.

I wonder how much consideration Wardle will give in comparing Nate and AJ Youngman. Would he consider them to be too similar in that he wouldn't offer both of them scholarships?

One of Nate's coaches at Metamora is Justin Dehm - assistant at varsity and also sophomore coach..also works with Illinois Irish..

Justin played DI ball and played with Bill Cole & Jamar Smith at Richwoods

I believe that is the 7th offer by Wardle for 2016. He is doing of good job on the 2016 class. Until he got the 2015 scholarships done he had to be concentrating on that class.

we're still 6 month away from high school basketball season but we've already had a little taste of who is gonna be the best area teams.....

in just the past week - perhaps the three best area teams, Metamora, Central and Manual, have played each other several times times-
with Metamora playing Central twice during the Peoria Central Shootout last weekend, then Metamora beat Manual Monday night at the Hersey Hawkins League at the RiverPlex.

Metamora & Central split the two games at Central, although Metamora won the one that counted in the Tourney Championship game...
then Monday night Metamora won again (Jim Mattson had some highlights Monday night) to make them perhaps this week's winner
(but --- Metamora finished 2nd behind Manual a few weeks ago at the Richwoods Shootout)

so it looks like those are gonna be the three best teams barring some surprise!

Are you sure that Metamora has beaten Manual this summer? I have heard that the Rams are 3-0 against the Redbirds, including an 8 or 9 point win at the Riverplex Monday night.

Nate has played AAU at the highest level with the Illinois Wolves - and still regularly is one of the best players & highest scorers against the very top opponents nationally - even 4-Star & 5-Star kids that he plays against.
He also is exactly what Bradley has sorely lacked since Jeremy Crouch, Andrew Warren, Philip Gilbert, Will Franklin, and Jerome Robinson - who are the only five guys we have had since the 1990's who can hit from outside at 39% or better.
Of all the players we have had since Andrew Warren left - not one has hit better than 35.6% (Will Egolf)!
Nate Kennell fills a need that we have had for five years.
Nate Kennell hits about 50% from the arc
